Actually that's good news... I was not a big fan of spun releases except the Outer limits VA/ which was more than decent.

if you listen to a lot of the early psy trance, the kick and the bassline were often the most boring part of the track, it was just the rhythm or canvas over which the real picture was painted... it wasn't (IMHO) about having so much a funk, a groove or killargh basslines... it was about losing your mind and going somewhere else...

now all we hear about from the upcoming wannabe producers is how do you get that certain kick, how do you get that certain bassline... never thinking to make their own, or to put more effort into what is being placed over the top...

why does everything sound the same today? because everybody is to busy trying to sound like GMS, Astrix or Skazi so that they can make $$$

that sums up the entire psytrance scene production wise to do... and to deny this or say otherwise is pure delusion... pure joke...

full on ruined this scene... it gave a quick fix tomaking your way to the top...

how many of th ebig labels turn you away if you sound like an old Astral trakc, or early Etnica? or even early Posford?

but if you sound like Astrix or Skazi, how many will snap up your tracks?

it's a frigging joke man.

+1

this isn't only in our scene.

it is not only the kick and the bass problem, it is the patterns!!!!!!!

same patterns over and over...same rhythms, same breaks, same sounds.

you know what, I don't think it will be changed soon.

total shit!

everyone likes the old music, MFG, HALLUCINOGEN, ASTRAL, OLD INFECTED AND OTHERS.

I work in a music shop, and everyone ask for the old albums.

no one buy the new cds, because they know what it is going to sound like already.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST - THE OLD STUFF HAVE MUCH BETTER SOUND QUALITY!

At the end of the day, even though Spun gave us many good albums early on and were fundamental to the early Full On scene, the last few years the released has started to drop off in both number and quality.
It is sad to see another giant go, but there is so much bad full on, and bad dark style now-a-days maybe losing a few here and there will help cull the crud from the scene.
I hope those affiliated with Spun end up ok and that the future is bright.

What about 'Nice Dreams Music' (Spun's chill counterpart) ?

Don't know where the motherlabel is heading but NDM 2 releases have the overthetop quality wise with Multiple Organisms still riding strong as one of the best selling psychill VAs to date. Would be a shame to see it go down.
