I really hate djs or artists who use just computers on stage. I dont know if i am old fashioned but i miss people like Dimitri Nakov mixing with 3 CDJ's and more "commercial" techno and progressive djs mixing with turntables. Mixing is an art after all.

My only grip is not traktor dj',s but Live acts, those guys who just play a file from start to end and wave hands n the air.
That stuff got old, boring and don't why it still popular and desired.

To put it simply, because most people are there to party.
Only a handful are there, standing in the back, stroking their chins complaining about these things.

And Boy have i heard many bad train-wreck djs with vinyl and cd's!

Sven Vath was also a big disappointment, heard him in 2008 and he sounded like every generic hands in the air cheezy techhouse DJ before him. At least Hawtin still has his Plastikman live going strong (and still quite bombastic).

I heard Sven 3 years ago and he was great both as a dj and performer. Hawtin has been a constant dissapointment for me as a dj (in terms of music style ofcourse). I cant understand this ultra minimal "techno".

Not a seasoned attendee so can't say much more about Sven, first and only time was in 2008 and it was a big letdown expecting "The" Sven Vath and being subjected to an overcooked sound, though well mixed and performed... with full posse on stage.
Hawtin, have heard DJs sets are not so spectacular but am still a fan of what he does with Plastikman. Not as gritty type analogue and dirty as the older era but still quite exploratory.
Both of them did way more pathbreaking stuff in the past that's for sure but today would rather hear a DJ like Dominik Eulberg than these guys.
