Quirk = the SHIT
Sleazy Listening is easily one of my favorite tracks of all time.
Tell him I said that. Oh, and have a good time, B. |

@ Red HA thats largely in part because the word sleazy is in the track title!

tim healy, i saw him play in japan this year, very nice addition! the lineup looks great, hats off to B. and everyone involved. Last year's sound system was superb, I could only hope for something like that again this year.
As far as playing above 150 I don't like to put too much emphasis on numbers but I played around 148 to a diverse crowd at the Boom and it went over very well....the floor was still full in the end so I'm pretty sure I didn't scare too many people away besides I'm very happy to accomodate and adjust to the environment and time of my dj set, and I think it will be a blast no doubt.
will do my best to please all ears and bodies, see you on the best dancefloor in the world!!!

okay, not going to the burn this year, but i gotta put in two cents.
i think the space elevator folks are trying to say that they are putting on the sound system for people to play DANCE MUSIC, not wage a sonic assault on anyone willing to stand near the speakers.
ive heard good stuff around 150 -155 bpm, but lets be honest, there is a point at which stuff is no longer danceable. lets not argue semantics on what "danceable" means as a word, but rather when two or three beats happen before your foot can land - this is no longer music for the feet, it is music for the head - if that. and at that point, it is usually only palatable to people who listen to that kind of stuff almost exclusively.
i think the space elevator folks want random people to be able to walk by, smile and start nodding their head to the beat, not be scared away by it.

Thanks PsyCore, I think you put it quite well. Not that I think stuff that's over 150bpm is bad or un-danceable, but yes, it's definitely music more for your head than for your feet and booty. We're going for groovy, user-friendly stuff that will make people at Burning Man go, "hey this psytrance stuff is pretty fun!" I'm not saying that the faster machine-gun stuff isnt' fun and wouldn't be enjoyed by anyone, but let's be honest. More full-on and proggy stuff will be enjoyed by a lot more people, cuz it's a bit easier to digest.
And yes, if it's good, then it's good. But that's always defined by one's own interpretation of "good". And more power to each person's interpretation.

I stopped by Space elevator a few times and sadly only heard about 15 min of music. It seems they were plagued with Generator problems. I did like what I heard tho..
BM was fun, but really felt like a big frat party. Most of the music there was just crappy sound over driver on a weak sound system to try to be loud. Opulent temple had a kicken sound system and some good trance.
