Great, great party. Son Kite was amazing as usual. Fantastic, just like Seb's track "Fantastic" and like Son Kite in general. Keep it real, dear Marcus and Seb. I love you guys.
Once more Spectra showed great professionalism and creativity. Party was perfect in every possible way.

its sunday night and i think my brain has finally been returned to normal after friday night

we got there at about 2:30 or so, dimitri was spinning his set. as berzerk said, it was low bpm and daydreams didnt sound as hard - nobi does a better job !! imho, his set was about all right, picking up at moments but not for long enough. went out at 4 for a quick smoke, it was pouring outside, when we came back the floor was jumping to the wonderful sounds of marcus, who had the entire place dancing like crazy ..

three hours of madness ffrom 4 - 7 with the sounds of son kite, i must say, their set was without a doubt the most intelligent set ive heard, with crazy tunes :lad mixed with good beats, a stunning set !!!!

billie jean towards the end had everyone dancing and smiling the hardest - best song to start the end of the night .. a bit later, unfortunately, the end was sooner than we expected , headed home ..

all in all, what a party, mad music, expected more from dimitri though ..

Although it's still hard to find words for what happened on Friday I'm anxious to post a review so here it is:

We drove down from Boston in one of the worst rains I have ever seen. That wasn't going to stop us though, we were going to see Son Kite even if we had to swim to New York. As soon as we got there we met some people from Boston at the door. It was great to see that at least twenty people had taken the trip down to see Son Kite.

Dimitri played a nice set although I wouldn't say it got me terribly excited. Strangely, people who had seen him in Boston at last Wednesday's trance weekly said he played a much better set up here.

And then... I think Markus played a couple of tracks, although I might be wrong since some parts of the night are still a little blurry. What I remember is that Seb joined him in the DJ booth and it looked like they were going to begin their live set. I was, of course, expecting that they would start with Mirage and was really surprised when I heard this divine, ethereal tune coming out of the speakers. I don't know the song but I loved it. Then I remember hearing Receive, Receive Part II, Massive (sounds so much better live), I'm sure I'm missing something, it was all blended into this amazingly intense set that took us to beautiful and strange places. I remember there were a few songs that I couldn't recognize. I'm only speculating but they might have been Minilogue songs or maybe something new from Son Kite. I'm dying to find out, maybe someone here can help us with that *hint, hint* . I remember thinking on the way back that you can't possibly make such great music with just skill and perfectionist. It has got to take a lot of passion and far reaching vision.

After the live set, Markus took us on a pumping DJ set that kept us going until the end of the party. He did play the Billy Jean remix that was already discussed on this forum and I found it very interesting and fitting very well with the rest of his set.

It was great to see so many people show up for this party. The space that Spectra is using now is not very big, but really nice. The whole floor was jumping up and down and there was so much energy in the air. The chillout room was also really nice although Seb did not play their which was the only minor disappointment of the night. But hey, not everything can be absolutely perfect.

A big thank you to Spectra for the great party and especially to Son Kite. I hope we gave you a reason to come back to New York. I can't stop thinking that I want to be a part of this crazy, amazing celebration called a Son Kite live set again. As soon as possible !

By the way, to CandyFlip, Arrya, and Skyblugoa, i had a great time hanging out with you all, good to see you come to parties and recite every sample line of every track played! good job on the trance obsession, keep it up.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

It was an amazing party indeed and all my thumbs goes to Spectra and the audience! The people were so into the music and it was such a pleasure to play!
I think the variarity of style during the night were great, the people got a nice blend from full on thru progressive trance to progressive house without the energy loosing an inch!
Parties like this are alive for a long time and very needful when you're in the middle of producing your new album.

Thanks a lot all new yorkers (and all of you that were travelling from outside ny) .... hope to see you soon again!

... Yonatan! Sorry that you couldn't make it for this one, you really missed something special!

Seb

Man oh man, sounds like we all had a crazy weekend. Glad to hear that everything went well, it was quite obvious to me that this was going to be the party to end all parties and it sounds like it was just that.

Next time Seb and Marcus are anywhere on this side of the ocean I am going to be there, I don't care if I need to hitchhike all the way to Vancouver or East Jesus or wherever.

Respect to the Spectra crew for organizing what sounds like a night in heaven.           Both teams played hard

Glad you had so much fun there in NY! Son Kite must be killa!
But, I was a little surprised to read there was Billy Jean played - well, sometimes, i assume, it might go minimalistic, deep, progressive, even acid-disco-housy - but Billy Jean wouldnt fitt for a trance set.

Back in Sweden! Missing New York already (what a great city indeed) but of course happy to be back with my girlfriend and studio!!!
We had such a great week in New York both at the party and before/after. Gavin@Spectra is the best host you can ever dream of and really spoiled us every moment possible. If you're artist and get the opportunity to play for him don't miss it!!!!

Billy jean wasn't played in the Son Kite set but in Marcus Dj set and it's not a Son Kite remix but a Minilogue remix. Marcus dj sets are very rarely pure trance sets ... more a blend between house and trance and he's not afraid of putting in different tracks ... that's what makes his sets so great!

Take care and hope to see New York soon again!
