Your definition of repetitive is different than my definition perhaps. Listen to Son Kite's old song "Deuce". That's what I call repetitive. And as for the trance-state you are referring to, when melodies are played really well you can get into a trance-state as well.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

@Acidhive

This has nothing to do with my or your definition of repetitivness.
Trance music, like House and Techno music had a fundamental element of repetitivness. Starting from one of the basic concepts of those genres - the 4/4 constant beat.

As for the trance-state I'm refering to, it was already asserted that it's more than likely induced by certain rhytmic cycles the "locks" on our brains alpha waves (it has already been discused here if you're interested to find more about it...)

I can already imagine the opening theme of the Simpsons, showing Bart writing on the chalkboard
"TRANCE IS NOT REPETITVE MUSIC"...

Sorry, just had to share this with you guys...           Out Here We're Stoned....

That's right snowflake,
the beat in electronic music never changes.
Sounds change but not the beat and a you well said for music to effect our brain in a psychological way it has to be repetitive but let us not get off topic!

I was a total freak of a game called "Prince of Persia" back in the early 90s but I've never been to Persia so far and my wife was never captured by the King so far
I hope not cause I can't imagine myself running in those dark dungeons to save her
...I'm too lazy hehheee.......

I was also a fraek of 2 racing games "Lotus Espirit" and "Vroom" but I only drove a real car about 10 times so far and I try to keep as much distance from stearings as possible.I hate driving.
