If this is off-topic, feel free to delete mr. moderator, but i was just watching the end of the speech of the german president horst koehler in front of the knesset (held in german, which for some reason was a big thing) and the comments afterwards made ny various people.
Obviously, a big emphasis was on the responsibitlity of the german people for what happened 60 years ago, but also various commentators and koehler stressed the friendship that has developed between the german and israeli and especially between the youth of these two countries.
And that got me thinking, what better example of this then our little psytrance scene we got here. Germany and Israel are probably the countries with the strongest scnes in the world, there are always large amounts of israelis doing the the german festival circuit in the summer, israeli acts influence german ones and vice versa (where would full-on be without X-Dreams "radio" and nowadays israeli full-on has almost surpassed german "umpa"" trance in terms of popularity here).

If there was ever one event to unite the youth of israel and germany it would have to be the Full Moon festival, at least 3/4 of the lineup are from the holy land, and a lot of israeli partyers are there as well.

Anyways, i think our scene should have had a special mention in that speech, we are the best example that while we should not forget, the past is way behind us and us young people are the future for a peaceful understanding.

Feel free to elaborate...           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

Yet we fight here 24/7

Don't think politicians want to refer to drug related scenes in a good positive way..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

I'm with traveller here.
I doubt that anyone would say "look at the friendship formed between the youth of both countries, they're doing drugs together in semi-illegal festivals!"

So it seems...
But it's no suprise old politicians (even making nice speeches and promoting friendship instead of war - which is no doubt a big improvement- thanks to them) haven't understood that much....

I recall Israeli Politicians and families going to Goa to drag their Children home from the evil Drug place I am with traveller 100%

When it come to reality Politicians are BIG Actors.. The climate is not so good between EC and Israel as one could wish or as they pretend it to be. Sorry for the Politics here. No offense to anyone German, Isralie or EC citizen.

im not talking about politicians, im talking friendship amongst us young people not politicians, they are full of shit anyways, for example a female friend of mine met an israeli dude at a party now they are married and have a kid.

What im saying is that the trance scene is a great example how israelis and germans get along these days, after hearing the politicians talk that just came to mind as a practical example so to speak.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

yes we live in a increasingly smaller world today. But hey it dosen't limit itself to Germany vs. Israel. There's a lot of communication going on with almost every nationality in this scene. It's not just a Isr./D phenomona.

of course it doesnt limit itself to Isr/D, but our relationship has been more "difficult"than that of other countries in the past.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

That's true. But somehow I get the feeling (and I have not facts here so dont jump on me) that there's still a big gap to be closed. Yes we in this scene seem openiminded (to some extend) but we are just a small part of the world. No matter what I still believe that there's many many Isralies, old and young and even in this scene, that still dont like Germans. And who can blame them even though none or almost none living Germans can or should be blamed for the past. It's just Human nature. It takes time to heal the emotional wounds.

Heck there's even Danish people (especially older but also younger)that dont like Germans after the Occupation in WW2.

So? Man I could meet the perfect woman anywhere in the world and it sure wouldn't really make a difference at all where she was from..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

if you reas the tabloids, nobody in europe likes us, be it the british , french or dutch.

But then, on an individual level, i think many people forget their differences. Thats why a subculture like ours can be important, so people start looking beyond their stereotypes and actually get to know each other. Its easy to hate "the germans", "the americans"or "the jews", but its much harder to hate an individual like "Ï hate HandA" or "I hate Aje".
I met my first Israeli at the Voov for example, im sure its the same for others. And im sure lots of Israelis went to germany for the first time cause they heard about all the cool parties going on here in the summer.
Spaeking of which, all the isaelis i met told me its mostly the old people who still hate germans, they said the youngh ones over it, but then those were the ones who i met here.           Check out my album: http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/gay-satanic-hippie-tiefenrausch

"nobody in europe likes us, be it the british , french or dutch. "

Oh and that's the whole of Europe? Seriously we who never saw a war on our lifetime have no business hating anyone for something that took place like half a century before we were even born. Finland lost about a quarter of her population while fighting independency off Russia. You think I go around despising Russians? I don't. I have loads of respect for what they've achieved in science in particular. Even at the very moment it's the Russians alone that keep ISS alive. Anyways it's all about the enviroment you grow into. If you're teached to hate that's what you'll do. Referring to your country as "the holy land" might not be the best start either (not that you did it but anyways..)          "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

aje, i´m with you.
of course everybody is right in this thread.
but i know that it´s ourselves who create and invent our realities, so, instead of speaking negative (drugrelated; national identities etc.) we should, as you´re doing, speak loud and in public about the wonderful values of (our) psychedelic culture
i.e. tolerance, open-mindedness, thinking global (acting local and global), heterogenity, diversity etc.
if we don´t do this ourselves as representatives of psychedelic culture, nobody will do!
so let´s all think constuctively about how to propagate our visions of ego-nullification, mysticism, love and peace.
just as commercial plastic pop world propagates money, fame and plastic chirurgy we should strenghten the public image of our psychedelic scene like a business company

anyway, "our style´s the best" (referring to hip hop attitude)
let´s diss ego-culture and have a battle with them

the values of psychedelic culture? i thought it was about having fun. by the way in general open-midness is something psytrancers lack more than anything. and those visions? i'm not signing that. to me it's about having fun and enjoying the music and well that's it really. i'm not by any means a representative of the "psychedelic culture" whatever that is..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."
