Hello everybody,
I know you fine people are probably tired of hearing the same topic over and over again, but I want all of you to hear me out just this once.
Downloading/trading kills our music. If the artists want this phenomenon to stop they can probably do it them selves. (At least for this forum.)
Every time an artist sees one of his tracks (that is unreleased) in the top 10 section (or any section), and he did not give this person that track, the artist should:
1. Confront that person!! Post a message on the section telling everybody that he did not give that person the track, and that person is a trader for all to know. I know that this is a form of "labeling people," but this is what people are actually doing - trading and downloading.
2. Artists; if you want this forum to go towards your advantage - confront the people who trade your unreleased music.
3. To the moderators of isratrance; every time you see a section were an artist confronted a trader - delete that section, and send a warning PM to that person that he will be banned from the forum for 1 week first time, one month 2nd...ect...
I am carefully saying that the artists are the ones who should first deal with it because not everybody that has unreleased tracks should be banned. If the artists and the moderators collaborate, they will get results.
this will help stop the file sharing by the fact that people will just stop posting unr tracks. slowly, the buzz and glamor over rare tracks will fade, because people will not be able to brag about what they have.
Remember--the results may be small, and only apply to this forum, but eventually you can make great things.

Sorry man but i really think nothing will stop internet trading. Weather It is music, movies, software or even porn. If you can get any medium onto a computer , people can and will trade it.

i dont think this will stop internet trading completely.
I do think that it will be very usfull for this forum.
even if it only makes just a small difference - it is still a difference.

Hey hey hey.... This forum is doing what it can against illegal trading.
This is why all the harsh rules. I don't think you'll be able to find a forum with such hard rules.
In almost every forum I've visited, it's filled with kids bragging about their new unreleased and asking question where this or that can be downloaded or traded.
This is also why there are such harsh rules for the top 10 section. The top 10 section used to be paradise for traders. It was disgusting to get inside that section. It's not the case today.
Unfortunately we cannot play cops all the time and search for traders all day long. We do what we can, and I think we do a lot.
Don't get me wrong, I am with you. I buy my music, I spend a lot of money every month, and I think you'll find that in this forum there are a lot less traders than in any other forum, cause we discourage it anyway we can.

Ravergirl, I agree that you are doing everything that you can. and i also mus say that you are doing a great job.
but i am not asking you to play cops. my thoughts are directed towards the artists. and eventually the moderators will collaborate.

I believe in education and explaining and not in rules and punishment. The later, while may seem to help at first, always fails in the end. I've got all of history behind me to prove that.
However, I do think that the first part of the idea is excellent. I think it is important that artist will be here, be a part of the community, explain to people what it means for them (and for us) that they are trading their music. I think when ppl will realize that there are ppl in the other hand, and not "stars", they will think about things differently.
This is one of the main reasons this place exists.

i feel that it's the artist's responsibility to make sure that the music does not leak to the net. when we send out trax, we bug them by putting in samples that promote our name("this track was writen and produced by damage"). we never bug the trax the same way. if any editing takes place, we'll know who the guilty one is. we also keep the trax as dry as possible.
so if the trax finds it's way to the net without the bug being taken out, it will be good promotion for us and if it's edited, you'll still need to get hold of the spiced up version of the track.
it is possible to solve the problem if all artists become a bit more profesional. |

Ok, but how do you educate someone who does not want to be educated? i mean, lets face it, many people have grown used to downloading mp3's, and if they are denied one source, they will quickly find another one, and continue. they like it free. they couldn't care less about the artists.
can you educate someone who won't listen?

just drop it. and as a matter of fact, u should block these threads. every 2nd or 3rd. thread screams out about the misjustice done by little trader pricks, comeon!
Try for once see the advantage of it (i'm not talking about traders, which is really wrong, but the try b4 u buy method). Try for once see the other side. it's good for u that u stick to your ideals (it really is!), but cut the mind police game!
And i really refuse to belive that ppl that really love music won't buy music and respect the artists. if ppl don't love music they won't buy it even without kazza , slsk or whatever!
LET PPL CALL THEIR OWN SHOTS, PLEASE!

yeah right ... the artist are totally innocent...i saw quite a few artist who are putting unreleased tracks with wrong tracknames and labels... what about that?? |
