bricasti m7 is the best reverb ever but so expensive, it can make these plugs sound like toys

What are the major differences between this and the better plugins?

plugins are good i was exagerating but this thing even beat hardware verbs.. even reverb designers agree casey the man behind bricasti have made some of best algorithms ever , there is lot of subbtle quality but one that can jump at you is how open and 3d it can sound ,how well it gel with the source, from the comparaison i heard it sounded instanely in a different league that what it was compared to, or it s maybe me that just enjoyed a lot the sound..

After my hardware reverb expiriences I would swear there exists no one better than a modern digital reverb.Maybe some moog that I have no clue about but I would doubt and would bet its not.
Sure, ts about subjecitve taste, and its fair to like old sounding stuff more but hard to imagine that a space designer with perfect rooms sounds like a toy comparing to an old analog room.
With listening to the purest sound in darkness, you would say the hardware sound cheap the software really decent or expensive.I still have tons of gigabytes of own processed files with hardware reverbs like m5000 and a few others. Have guitars , snares, my fav crashes and hihats, hardware synths lines processed and sampled, drum banks lots of rhymes in different effected versions etc. I recorded often multiple instances of same track via routings with many effects for having the opportunity to choose personal favourite later.
I will also use a few hw reverbs on my vinyl but only because they sound different not better IMO.
Dunno about bricasti the pictures look very decent, for me its hard to belive it sound that better than the software masters, maybe its the hardware better placebo feeling which often visits us when using a hardware piece IMO..maybe I'm clueless and wrong and this is really that better. Best is comparing the processed data as objectively as possible.
Also I have to say it is a shame for me to forget the ProTools Reverbs.. with are really sounding like nothing else. Different than lexicon but very warm and without any digital metalic sounding in the sound just pure smooth warm or creamy rooms that sound different i would say they sound unique, not many options and parameteres but the sound is amazing.

Timetraveller what is sad is plugins are slowly cathcing up the quality of some twenty years old digital reverbs made by brillant guys but they should surpass it since long time imo.. but it s not the case, only since they ported the pcm ... that i m not sure if even the hardware pcm serie is considred really pro studio verbs and made for this market as the price was not super expensive compared to some other reverb... but it sound great.

i found a great "Room Simulator" that is freeware

for me it goes into a similar direction than valhalaRoom having with less features, but still an amazing choice as freeware

http://www.kvraudio.com/product/space360-by-cytosonic

its very good to work the stereo, this is not the best tool for working with long decay reverbs, for that, there is allready many one´s, but this is very good to work with drums and synths, or vocal´s you can easly understand the GUI and adapt a room to your needs...

i have been using it very ofter recently, specialy in perrcussive sounds

we got a bricasti in our studio, and its excellent!
you can bring it into the mix without "hearing" a reverb, but when you muted it, something is missing.
this is what most or all plugins can´t do           www.myspace.com/toxicbytes

That's what I'm looking for
I always hear this hissy noise with the reverbs I'm using and it bugs me.

Tried all listed in this thread, I like Vallhala but honestly 2C Audio Aether is the best sounding soft verb i've tried. Really deep big hall type of reverb and also good small rooms.

It's got a great number of inspiring presets as well!

depend the reverbs but you will often have a multiplicator of reverb time compared to the mids for low and highs.. don t use any in the highs and filter it too , it might help.. dont be afraid to hp your verb around 4000 maybe even lower.. if like me you like rather dark and meaty verb but depend the source, the verb used..

one quality that is important for me is that it feel part of the sound.. and don t fight much with other sounds reverbs in the mix, also that it add some real depth. some verb tail sound really 2d and dont add much depth to me .
i don t care much about how realistic it is i like some lexicon kind of verb like the lx480 that can have a strong caractere , is thick and phat it s a enhancers,i would call it more a fx than a verb, it s a polisher.. it can change the caractere of the sound to make it sound more finished and "commercial ".
having a more neutral realtistic verb in the aresenal is very nice and there the exponential audio phoenix is very good from the one i used (not many)

Sounds like a good convolution reverb by your description..

Also no one mentions the QRS Yardstick they looked at reverb from the air characteristics perspective so no ray tracing (TC elec) or synthetic (Lexicon) rooms in there

And there is Eventides reverb Didn't Mr Postford bath his tracks with a Eventide

for plugins a good convolution reverb along with the 2C audio or LX480 and your covered for most uses very well

ir sound good but it s static so dont really get it all, it can be harder to make it blend well with the source imo but could be about choosing well suited sample, i often use modulation with ir like chorus it can work great . was big fan of alti verb in the past but now just use the one bundled in daws or ni reflektor that can sound quiet nice imo
