Brilliant thread. Good to see people on this forum into metal, and proper metal at that!
Funny how psytrance has always had quite a metal following. Why do you think this is? A lot of my psy-loving friends came from an extreme metal background, and I always see people at psy parties wearing metal t-shirts. I always sport my Nokturnal Mortum t-shirt (who got a mention in this thread) at psy parties.
I suppose this would be a good place to whore my own depressive black metal band. We haven't done anything in quite some time (4 or 5 years), but I think the music is pretty timeless:
...My favourite band these days, metal-wise, would have to be Alcest. Well, they're not strictly metal - they mix a style called shoegaze with black metal - but it's fucking incredible music. The juxtaposition between the black metal vocals and the truly beautiful music astounds me. Seeing them for the third time in December.
(Fuck, when the black metal vocals come in on this one... Wow.)
after going through my entire vinyl & CD collection of metal (about 2000 in total) these are the bands material I find worth having, the rest I've sold:
Amon Amarth
Anaal Nathrakh
Be'lakor
Behemoth
Cannibal Corpse
Ensiferum
Fear Factory
Hail Of Bullets
I
Immortal
Kamelot
Marduk
Meshuggah
Napalm Death
Obscura
Pantera
Suffocation
Symphony X
Vader
Watain

Does anybody know MIND FLOW?
More progressive than metal.
It´s a brazilian band (friends of mine) with HUGE produtcion, including an album produced by Ben Groose himself. There´s no much of this here.

Well I finally had enough of heavy metal. All 300 CDs & 150 vinyl sold to a second hand shop.
Last year I listened to heavy metal for the first time in like a decade endlessly, and I really enjoyed it but it just seems so immature to me in the end. Just a bunch of teenagers who never grew up.
I hope someone picks them up that loves them. The money went to buying some long lost EDM from the last 2 decades, the rest goes back in to family funds for Xmas.
I might consider lashing out on the Arturia MicroBrute with a bit of it.
