It all sounded the same to me, i was infront of the left speakers set, absorbing the lower frequencies and deleting the several brain cells that i still have.

yet, simon is simon and ott was fabulous!

Ott live set - funky, groovy, funny, beautiful. i have never seen ott play, he played much from the "blumenkraft" cd and much more from his "unreleased" stash. my favorite was the intro to "lsd rmx" with that hectic distortion and the track right after that, i dont know it, but it was awesome. ott is really funny to watch on stage too, and it wasnt so crowded at that time, so it was nice to dance a bit.

Hallucinogen live set - best part of the night for me. started with a tune i dont recognize, something that sounds like a combo between "scanner" and something else, dunno, maybe its just an intro cause the volume was way down. then he started pounding with old hits such as "solstice" and "horrorgram" they sounded much better then when they were first produced. i heard him live before and this sound was much meatier, better kicks and the bass is clearer as well. this is what i expect from artist who didnt release any new tracks, improve the sound on the old ones!!! the crowd ate it up! the volume seemed to increase, i was outside for a moment cause someone puked next to me and it made me sick for a sec, i went back in cause "mi-luni-yum" was creeping in! this is one of my fav's and finally i heard it on a big bass sound system!!! man, makes me wish i was in south africa 2000 when it was first played. "the finger" and "magic monkey juice" were in there as well, great tracks not too much diffrent in live from the cd. "gamma goblins" was the pinnacle for me i really enjoyed the maddness, much better then the gms rmx.
i was surprised he didnt play "lsd", "spiritual antiseptic" and "even dwarves start small" was really looking forward to those.

nevertheless, the king is not naked! as some suggested to happen in this show. long live the king.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Loads of crowd, but a good crowd.
It was too crowded, but was expected and also worth it, just to listen to Simon live, who was amazing. Just can't say it with words.
I just felt wonderful in his set.

Shpongle "live" didn't seem so live and the sound was rather a disaster, though in Simon's set it was good.

Because of me TiMMY and itay missed OTT and 5 of Shpongle's tracks because my ticket was with other friends who were pretty late to the show.
We heard it all outside, but obviously it's not the same and we felt quite sad/bad about it.

I didn't like Ari Linker's set and Raja's was okay, but not more than that.
Raja was good with being crazy on stage .

I enjoyed it, was good. It was worth waiting 5 years for my first party and having this.
Wasn't perfect, but good enough.

I'm Lyri's friend who was late
(it wasnt my fault it was the dude with the car that took his time...)
I was sad to miss OTT and abit of Shpongle.
Watching Shpongle live (or half live) was amazing. Yea, the sound wasnt good, the balance sucked, playbacks etc but still it was amazing to see them after 5 years listening to them...
Raja is the king
Simons set was GREAT. One of the best sets I saw. WOW. Wicked tunes and Wicked energy.
Alien Project wasnt so bad but putting him after Simon was a mistake... He was much less good than Simon.
Raja was good in making a show on stage, the tracks that Alien Proj. played was OK but few mixes sucked.
I loved the Metallica mix (at about 7am).

The thing that sucked is that it was too crowded, but me and my girl found "secrets" empty spots to dance once in a while.

In the bottom line, it was a great party.
I wish I could go to Talamasca 2night but I need to study...

Hello Hello

Location: WTF? The place was packed!
This is not a rock concert - a trance party should have enough space for everyone to dance freely, and not bump into other people while trying to move. This is an important part of the trance experience.
With this ticket price and the amount of people that attended, I think the organizers could have easily done it in a bigger location, like Ganei Haarucha or Hanger 11 (I think it's bigger, not sure though).
Maybe that's why the location was kept secret (greed?). I'm begining to regret censoring it from roni's message two days before the party.

Sound: I'm used to nature parties, so it's really hard to compare. But for such an event I'd defiantly expect something better. And the mix was horrible

Music: Incredible, mind blowing, astonishing, all those adjectives. Shpongle live show was more a SHOW than LIVE. Raja was mainly fooling around, acting stupid, modeling psychedelic hats (reminded me of Peter Gabriel's fooling arounds in the 70's while he was the lead singer of Genesis).
There was almost no improvisation, almost everything was peformed exactly as it is on the CDs (with alot of playbacked parts), which totally misses the whole idea of a live show IMO.
The Funniest part was when they did DMT. Raja Ram put this funny hat on and started bubbling sings to the microphone. However, the only vocals I heard were the ones from the CD (that were made with a Mac text to speech program, BTW).

Simon's solo show, on the other end, was insanely psychedelic, and not playbacked (well, at least some of the tracks). People went totally crazy, I could see the madness in their eyes. I tried to dance with no success mostly, because I need a 5x5meter floor to dance properly

When Simon ended his set I left the dancefloor, and shortly after, went home.

Deco: The best deco I've ever seen. Abit "commercial' though.

It was nice to see ya all:
Lyri,Itay,Candy,Karnaf, the one and only ShivaS,Cyber Punk,Trip-,Kaz,PoL and all the others

Altough my review seems abit negative, I don't regret going, paying 120 shekels for the ticket and waiting at the entrance. It was worth everything.

p.s - Wish me luck. I have a matriculation (bagrut) exam in literature tomorro .

well, i was their backliner in the show, including getting them all the instruments requested and connecting the whole stage up. all of you who are saying it wasnt really live are wrong. period. i have no commitment for shpongle so i wont lie. raja's fluet was live! vocals of the sisters- live! 3 synth's - live! guitar live, drums live, 2 guitars live of simon in 2 songs.the place was problematic because of the wood stage so the mix out had to be a bit low other wise the ppl standing near the speaker would go to an hospital... and like every live show the point is to get u all close to the stage and not far from it. now, for ozrick fresh and amazing idea for the soundman to be out of the stage.. well in simon's and ott's case its a bit hard u see.. they need to kinda be on the stage u know?...
they did have some feedback problems cause of the monitors like in most lives that are not consistant production but in different countries/effects/instruments/sound systems.

like in most shows today. ( from berry, to the jirafot, to the shotim u name it-even rita..) they are some computer playbacks cause simon cant play baseline, melody, pads,etc.. live. he needs to do some stuff on stage.. so u did have some playback the thing is because it wasnt live it sounded more crystal and with no feedbacks.
they did a great job, i loved to work with them. stop bitching everytime someone tries to do here good.in what show exactly u have allot of free space, in all rock, electronic shows it is crowded its part of the idea, if any of u where in a live show of a big group( lets name some for u to remember..( metalica, prodigy, beastyboys etc..)
it is hot, crowded, sweaty and noisy. that's the idea and not a trance party in nature were u can be crowded or not to your choise.although i am sure that if it was summer time you all had the fun of doing it somewere in the desert..
just enjoy
bom.

I hope you got that jacky, I'm not bitching

Maybe up there it was live, but for me and all the people I talked to it wasn't. Down there, it looked as though Raja Ram's flute parts were mostly playbacked and the ones that weren't playbacked weren't that great at all.

Also, there's what I said about the LIVE thing

Shpongle are not Metalica, Prodigy, etc.
Shpongle are Shpongle - a group of electronic music pioneers, that became famous because they were doing something very different, psychedelic, mind opening. I simply expected something else.

I don't own the "trance experience" thing, but I think most people here would agree that in a trance you should have enough space, and not worry about anyone bumping into you or vice versa.

Well, I'm pretty sure that on "Divine moments of truth" I saw Raja "singing" out of sinq.
Well I dont think its too bad that few of the music is playbacked, I think it need more improvisation.
Puting a soundman ON the stage is STUPID period.
Doesnt meter if he wanna do a show. Its stupid ego problem and totally unprofessional.

dear backliner

in a production that size (and respect) it was possible to bring another console and a proper sound man to monitor the BIG PICTURE sound in the hall.
let simon do his job and give someone else to be incharge on the over all sound.
as a sound man u know for sure that stage balance does not look like hall balance and simon could not have the slitest idea of how bad the WHOLE thing sounds out there!

there r technical ways to prevent feedbacks and at the same time give the mics enough respect in the front of the mix. (please tell us if there where any compressors on the over all mix)

it's all question of money invested!

and ya! i will bitch when i pay loads to get a dream concert and what i get is crapy sound.

do u also belive that raga sang the DMT parts?
i could hear raga played the silver flute (or bearly hear would be the more exact phraze) but what about the little red flute?
do u (as a sound technitian) realy belive it was authentic playing when the TIP of the flute us 50cm away from a dynamic mic???
yes' it was great to get those part the clearest.

u know what?
i agree to get a playback gig, just don't try to make it look like u r realy doing something when u don't.

show respect to the people that came from love of ur music.           e.om - www.eom.co.il

well ozric there was another consule for the mix out but they wanted to give us only mix left and right and thats it. we had 2 feedback destroyers and arround 6 compressors and noise gates just name it. i have a name ozrick and its jacky i dont refer to you as the one who sufferd from the mix do i? simon and ott want to do that, and its their choice.no energies for argument (specialy after working 53 hours strait..)i just said my opinion wich is based on facts and ears. have a great day dear Ozric ;-)
