psinology, thanks for translating the text for us English types. It sounds like JP's had one hell of a time trying to pull this together. I just hope enough people turn up so he at least breaks even.

I'm really worried about my friend that is going alone from Brazil to spend his vacation in Portugal and really looking for this festival... he is very happy to going to this festival... BUT now i'm really worried with him. Will be his first time in Portugal and alone.
So people stop joking with others people. We need the true information here. These new users writing what they want is so bad...
Where the organization? or some artist that will play there? Please... tell us something good, some positive word and truthful.
Really hope that all work well.

Well, if I am to believe all the shit the organisers have had to deal with then yeh, I really do care and I hope it's a success, for the organisers, artists, performers and punters (including me)!
I would love to be able to stay longer in Portugal and go to Freedom festival as well, but alas I can't afford it at the moment.

What I think is remarkable are all this new users this thread attracts to the forum, both with an opinion already made for good and bad.

It's probably because there's a link from the Shamanik festival web site to this thread, and people are reading the bad vibes and getting worried.
I agree that an official email or update to the main Shamanik web site to assure everyone that the festival is actually happening would be much appreciated. However, the organisers are probably very busy sorting out the site and other stuff.

no worries mate. like 99% of people just wanna have a good stomp in the sun.
shame about all the bad vibes swirling around and people getting worried/upset. pulling of a party, let alone a full blown festival of this size, seldom goes without some obstacles, although it seems JP had to deal iwth an extraordinary amount of shit. granted, some artists sadly won't make it, but i am confident that it nevertheless will be an amazing experience.
as some have mentioned, posting unfounded single sentence messages saying it's all going tits up does no good to anyone, especially and most importantly punters investing their time, money and expectations in it.
Anyway, nothing more to be said really, it'll all pan out, so see you in Portugal! |

Well...I wish your words were true Justin but when I have mr. JP on the phone himself and he tells me in my face that he's refusing to sign the contract and that I shouldn't make a problem about this and not have an attitude about it because I was one of the last minute bookings for the festival....do you really think that shows good intentions  To me that shows a promoter that allready knows more or less that his ass will get burned and that he's not gonna be able to pay me or the other artists....and this is how he's trying (it probably won't work though) to cover his ass because with no contract signed. Like that nobody can proof in anyway that he promised to pay...that's quite dodgy if ya ask me and it shows total disrepect on top of it. It's the only guarantee that me and other artists have to get paid 'cause the advance money that was promised has not been paid either. On top of that I've asked JP and his partners Aubrey and Arnaud several times for my playtime, never any answer at all to all 4 e-mails to both subjects (contract & playtime) and then on top of that they simply booked me a ticket without consulting me when I wanted to fly there and back....can things get any messier than that And 2 days later the tickets are canceled again and we get a message like "please keep having the faith in this festival" while they literally screw up anything possible....I'm sorry but personally I start to believe karma is knocking on JP's door lately.<br>
"The world outside of us...is a perfect mirror reflection of the world inside of us" is a spiritual lesson I personally learned a lot from lately. I taught me to stop playing victim, to stop getting ugly and nasty to people or to stop pointing fingers to others and calling them responsible for the things I attracted myself in my life for a reason....to learn something about how I created my personal reality and to learn that everything in that reality is attracted by me and me only ! I think that's exactly the case here with JP (and maybe with his team members too) and that this chaos is nothing but a reflection of his inner chaos. Hearing all the stories about past parties he did, where also artists didn't get treated like they should, got screwed, not paid and so on...well..I guess the lesson is still not learned and this mess will never stop until JP does I guess. Personally I know now having been a person like this, that it's better to stay on safe distance or far away until such a person learned this lesson. I honestly wish JP and his team, all artists and all visitors the best for Shamanik Festival and I truly hope it will be a success but personally I'm convinced it will be a huge mess and that's why I cancelled....I sincerely hope somehow I'm wrong though and wish u all a blast ! Peace out !

Fair enough Shawnodese, money is always a problem when starting up new events. In the UK festivals generally take 3 years (3 events) to make any profit, unless you totally rip the punters off and charge massive amounts at the bars.
