Say "cheezeee"

Well.... latly I noticed in the CD review section that every second comment is like "this is too cheezy music"
and my question is.. what wrong with cheezy music ? its still psytrance. psytrance isnt just Dark/night stuff.. every track with morning melody ppl name it as "yakk this is cheezy" or "club stuff"..
dot get it.. if u dont like morning trance dont listen to it  just it

I like some french cheese! 
Usually I use cheesy refering to a track with naive melodies (don't ask me to define "naive melodies") and usually a very low level of psychedelic elements (if any).
Lately I've catch myself using this term when refering to some Vocal tracks (tracks in which the samples are sang).
According with my definition above, lots of melodic full on these days have a slice of cheese, but I like them anyway.
For example, I like Bizzare Contact very much, and already saw lots of people saying them to be cheesy.
Bottom line: it's a matter of taste.

I agree with you traveller but the problem is the formulas used in a lot of this melodic music make it unlistenable after a while.
I love good melodic music, morning music, groovy progressive in it's appropriate time. What I don't like is the same boingy bassline that sounds like a circus tune and the same breakdowns and buildups, same pauses, same same same. I even hate the way DJs mix this stuff. It's driving me away from psytrance and I'm kind of bummed about that.
And yeah I don't listen to it.

An example of a track i find cheesy is from the compilation XXL from SPUN records...
The first track, Void - 3Rd Dimension (G.M.S. Remix) sounds really cheesy to me...
It has that sample "Im gonna take you to another dimention" that makes it sound real cheesy to me.
Yet, i don't think it's a bad track at all, just kinda cheesy... |

i generally dont like it when people state their opinion as fact, so i hate it when people do this. the only time i use "cheeze" is when the song is sooo happy it reminds me of the smurfs.
other than that, i dont see a problem with cheezey songs. once in a while i like something a little lighter on the ears.

Cool topic
I love all kinds of music and especially most psytrance. Don't limit myself to anything.
So i love dark killer stuff, minimal beats and of course the master cheese.

Well.I think we discussed this a million times and never got to a conclusion.
However it's not the morning melodies that makes a track sound commercial.
Example:
Silicon sound,
Cosma,
Star.X - prepare to fly,
Space Cat
and many others off course.
These are all morning music artists but definetly I don't find anything commercial in them.
Dark/night music can be commercial too. |

I'm using this word when I think that what I'm hearing is too close to mainstream Trance.
And.. It happens that many morning tunes, and quite a few full-on tracks "deserve" this adjective.
