hi friends
this is the first time I want to go to Samotraki...
I´m going from Portugal to Greece...
my question to someone that have more samotraki´s experience is: what´s the best transport to arrive there? (by car, plane, boat, train,...)
can everyone give me information about cheeper trip´s to Greece?

I will be making the trip from Australia and given that the Australian dollar is weaker than the Euro - do i fall in the above catergory?

Duby, it is great to know that you are going from what a gather you are always in some of the best festivals in brazil and you know what you are talking about. It will be great to know that another brazilian (like my self) will be present their

oi oi ,samothraki dance festival will be the best festival in europe this summer for shure and we cant lose this event.

hey im comming all the way from Australia for this event, and ive read its only 35km from the turkish coastline. is there anyway i could get there from turkey? it would be much apreciated. |

Some info for you Kruppy.. you can go to Istanbul and from there take a bus for Alexandroupoli. In Istanbul go to the International Istanbul Bus Terminal (Uluslararasi Istanbul Otogari) serves all international and domestic lines and is located in Esenler, about ten kilometers (six miles) from the city center. Most of the major intercity companies have free service buses from central Istanbul to the bus station.

u can take night train (14 hours) from athens to alexandropoli (nearest to island port) and from there a ferry to samothraki island. make sure u reserve your ferry ticket before.

I recommend to use the boat and not the train in order to reach the island. You can book tickets for the boat that departs from Lavrio port(Athens) and go direct to samothraki without bothering with train-bus.. Trains move very slow in Greece, and that period are overcrowded with people - not comfortable choice at all ! -
Leave early and use The Boat.. |
