No? thats really not true. I read sales stats once for a track of mine and it was MUCH more then 20 sales of that track and it was at #30 if i remember correct.
with 20 sales in top10 it must be a really really bad week in that case.
well ofcourse psytrance sells almost nothing compared to the other genres, nothing new there, but its def more then what your imagening.

I have used beatport almost from version 1.0 and I have never relied on charts.
The other stores doesnt have as good back catalogs, current releases or complete discographys of artist or labels.
These day I only rely on "my artists and labels" new releases and "users also bought" recomendations.

I have the figures directly from my close connection within Beatport. After all I have run a label since 2003 on Beatport and know the inside out there. Those who claim its more got no clue or have been extremely lucky to have more than 20-30 sales in the psytrance section of Beatport.

Yeah, because of lost sales they could just be buying their own stuff, but it doesn't matter sales remin low

I think there are many things. I've seen, "beatport exclusives," ( not for psy trance ), and I definitely feel that, "the labels pay for promotion/self space," just like soda in a grocery store

From all the different subgenres of psytrance, I think progressive is the closest to House music for example. Well i can give you an anwser to that cause the question has been asked already too the folks at beatport and they're reply to that was.... "be already happy that their is a psytrance section, the genre is selling so bad that we have consider removing it"

Very cool... I think you have provided a cool site. Almost every here has downloaded a track, or an album, or whatever from your project....
In a side note.. Tomorow I am trying out Mondo Tunes, for my first, "world wide release."
I don't expect to sell much, but its only $8 dollars to release a single worldwide.. lol.. should be an interesting test

nothing against that music or the people at all, just wondering how it could be like that all the time? is that the only stuff people buying these days? i mean there are lots of other good music for sure, but almost never hits the top100 even 
ofcourse there isnt always just those labels and artists but they are dominating the psytrance section for sure.

I don't understand the gifs.. its pretty common knowledge that a sale of 50 tracks at beatport gets you in or near the top ten. for psy.. maybe 20 i guess

Generally, the labels you mentioned are more palatable to the masses... BP is the last place I would go for serious psy over 144bpm, not to say they don't offer some it's just buried in a sea of crap... In my perfect world labels/ artist would go the route of Vertigo Records and a few others offering their music direct cutting out the middle man... I would assume that route has it own set of limitations as well... |

All the tracks I bought from Beatport were for the majority by Ace Ventura, and other few were from Iboga artists.
This is not a joke!
