Hi people... Just couple of questions... I am writing music here in Russia since 1999 and had a break for almost a year. During this year few Russian projects made great worldwide promotion and I am wondering if you can see something that is possible to call "Russian Sound". Yes, I can agree that some tunes are really good but is there something specific that can give a possibility to think that music made here is different from, for instance, Swedish staff...

i think this is kinda hard q., i have a lot of russian music, if not all.
And all i hear till now is some parody for goa music or numerious tries to make goa and without any doubt the meat music (parasense/aerodance/psyfactor/fungus) and much more..
so for me russian sound is specific-computerized-goa or noisy-wistling-rushing sounds at 145 bpm or more..

p.s. I am more into russian down tempo /chillout then trance;)

Yes, that is what I am talking about: we are having very few people writing some trance music and how it is possible to find some russian sound. Only because parasense has more released trax it is impossible to tell them Russian sound representers... Also fuzzion is totally different... what i am trying to say is that projects are different and there is a definitely problem to identify any kind of russian sound... but as far as i am in russia and i am musician, i cannot see it from side... so, darkish, noizy... well, is there any kind of specific characteristic that can identify russian sound, like when you are listening to the track you can be sure that it is russian? or that is just a recording labels wish to find it?

Too many weard noises, messy builds of the trax, 145+ bpm etc.
Is that what you ment?

Yes man, and if you will hear the track like you described, without knowing the titel, will you be able to tell "That is Russian sound" Or that is just something many tracks from here are having in common?

i can probably itentify, cause almost all tracks released (psyfactor/psykovsky/transdriver and so on) have bad sound quality and need good mastering..
also i know how they sound like...

Listen to Salamantra "B-Logic" from Nephilim's Technobotanic Triptamines Vol.2 Maybe that will change your pessimistic opinion (hopefully :-)), the problem is that not many people are having good equipped studio and that means using PC a lot. Yes, there is a problem but I cannot really say that all other projects are having perfect quality sound...

yes guys, i think you right... it is not about the equipment... but, for instance, listening to Battle of the future Buddhas is also possible to call them "Russian sound"?

Well, I think it is somewhat easy to identify a russian trance tune. Mostly they all lie within the high bpm range, with some strong melodic character blasting away...(Even if sometimes the melody isn´t quite russian, but who else would do those bizarre things but the russians ?) For instance, Paranoic Sensations, don´t ask me why, but after the very first bars, prior to any singing, one can tell it´s definitley russian...I enjoy so much them !
