IMO its all about who's cool, who "knows more" about the "scene". Nowadays it seems that the majority of RockStar Attitudes know more about what they dont want than what they do.

#1 symptom of RSA:

"This new stuff sucks, trance hasnt been the same since 2001"
Give it a rest already. YOU dont get to tell ME what I LIKE! OKAY? NOW FUCK OFF! So what if you think GOa is the only trance. I like new stuff. Kill me.

#2

"Ewww, you like FullOn? That stuff is soooo played out, you must be an idiot."
Ok. I understand you dont want to wade thru the 97% which is cheese. That doesnt make ME an idiot for having done so.

#3

Lack of motion, on or off dancefloor.
This is a DANCE party! This is DANCE music! so DANCE! The only things necessary for a true trance experience, are a repetetive beat, and dancing. Everything else just adds depth.

#4

Getting way WAY fucked up and acting like an idiot.
I think we all know what that looks like. See: Drunk Guy Syndrome. Often results in coma, extremely profuse vomiting, and destroyed hotel rooms (not theirs).

these are all things I have observed in the general electronic music scene here where I live, which fit the description of "Rock Star Attitude". As for acts on stage, a few things Im sure you may recognize:

Waving the hand around like an idiot.
Im a dj, I understand getting into the music, losing yourself a bit, but theres a point when it just looks like you think you made the track yourself (maybe you did...). Pretty show-offy if I do say so.

Not moving at all.
WORSE by FAR than waving the hand around, the act or dj stands there looking bored as shit. I can understand, with a live, that you may have played the music a hundred times already this season. But at least try. Its not hard. And the crowd will appreciate it. I know I do.

Flashing the "Hail Satan" aka "Dio" aka "Slayer"
Index and Pinkie pointed out, middle and ring held down with the thumb. We're so hardcore we forgot we're not in a metal band look. Enough said.

Using the effects on the mixer Ad Nauseum
They're there to use, sure, but use them tactfully and tastefully. Unless of course you're playing to 5000 people and they're all there for Skazi, they wont notice anyway. Too much, it just sounds plain stupid.

The worst attitude by far, applicable to both those on and in front of the stage, is those who come to a party, knowing full well the styles represented, who then commence to complain that there's not enough _____ (insert style here). If you dont want to go to a fullon party, DONT FUCKING GO TO A FULLON PARTY. You have plenty of options. One of which is the forum you're reading right now. If you can read this, you can find out who's who. It just takes a little common sense. Which apparently is never that common.           .

Quite apt as a lot of this extra dark stuff just sounds like bad death metal to me - always though it was dance music for metal heads who'd taken a trip...

Anyway .. whats with wearing sunglasses after dark.. does anyone know???

i know what the shades in the night scene is splly in the place i am all the fellas who wear shades in the night or in the day in the raves are the ones trying to hide their frowns ..thees fellas and ladies too are havin a bad trip thats all and wanna hide their frowns and glazed eyes ...and if uve noticed they have a forever quivering plastic smile on their face ...which of course vanishes and is replaced by grinding teeth within seconds ..that is if no one else is lookin ...if anyone looks ..back with the plastic heheheh .

thats another fav of the rockstars at raves .

and yeah im an old metal head Pantera and the likes and yes some of the dark is meant for dudds like me to just stand next to the spkrs and bang heads too ...that is surely not trance ..but ilove it when Dj's play it ...one one side of the spectrum u have Khatzel and on the other for Ex Metal Heads like me Kindzadza, Highko , Audialize etc etc

but i hope i am not percieved as a rock star for the Record - Rock Is Brainless Banter and Noise .

Trance - Is an Awakening of the Soul ...Lesser OR Higher

Your are right, but one thing you have to realize

"Psytrance scene" is not = "Psychedelic Scene"

Psytrance is music made for the psychedelic scene, to be experienced in the psychedelic scene.

If not experienced there, it is like listening to opera or classical music at a very noisy contruction yard... Impossible to appreciate the music and its effect.. Actually, its a big damn shame.

So, its not as easy as you would have it to be.

If you really dont have a scene where you are at, you must take responsiblity and build one. Thats why we have a scene here, because we actually did that.
Find someone who likes it at as well, make parties together, dance together. Slowly invite more people, and get them grooving.

2 years from now, I promise you, it will be kicking ;-)

Believe in it !

This is what Im doing right now!

We're having our first outdoor June 2!

We found a bunch of people willing to play nearly for free!

If you build it they will come.

If you dont compromise, you keep at it, and you really REALLY want it, you WILL make it!

It has taken me a few years, and sometimes it seemed like it would be easier to give up and just go to parties elsewhere...

But NO! THe people around here have no real idea what a real good trance party is like, so I have to show them!

Anyone can do it! And you can even find ways of doing it cheap. Money is not an obstacle unless you let it become one (just dont DL)!           .

This is one thing which pisses me off most about the psy trance scene . Where does this stem from ? Loads of drugs ? Ego ? Money ? What can we do to cut this attitude among party goers in our little scene ? its just infecting the wonderful vibe we all share at parties . its very easy to say ignore it and just trip by yourself because its all about sharing a bond a vibration at parties and not all about yourself.

Discuss.

....um thanks?
it is building, houseparties and open-deck nights at bars, psy-parties every....3 or 4 months....that's not enough.

I was simply saying, as i read about the parties all over the world (everywhere but here), that even if there are "rockstars," it's better then nothing at all.           "it's not scary; you just...lose a sense of who you are and all that shit"
