Sometimes I will dance, sometimes I wont. Depends on what I want really (and not what you want).

If I want to stand where the sound is the best, thats what I will do. If I catch beat or the groove, my body will usually start moving, perhaps not as fast and energetic as all the drugged up people, or fellow trancers with a more athletic touch to them, but Im still grooving.

Its not whats on the outside that counts, its the insides... guts, liver, heart and your lungs... thats what matters.

I know people, who are really cool and positive, they like to find a spot, stand there and listen to the music - Perhaps drink some beers and have a laugh..

They love it, the atmosphere, the people and so forth, but dancing is just not who they are.

Heres an important point.

BE YOURSELF AND LET OTHERS DO THE SAME!

All the rest of you, who are complaining about people not dancing and doing whatever YOU want them to do. Take a long hard look in the mirror, and understand, encouraging & creating freedom is about letting the people around you do whatever they want, as long as they are not physicly or intentionally trying to harm you or others (or even themselves).

This is the most snobbish debate I have seen in a long time, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Thanks to you, people like me, and Im sure a lot of other people, will no longer feel welcome on the dance floor anymore... since its apparently YOUR playground, and since we dont want to play like you do, we are not good enough.

IMHO the real problem is with some DJs and Artists that have the attitude of "this party is nothing without me" or "the party is me", which leads to disrespecting other people. They contaminate people...

Everyone has its own role on the party, and no one is better or worse than anyone.

exactly. imo this is one of the problems this scene is facing in the last few years, but i guess it's a natural thing in every evolving scene- loss of the real essence and embrace of the mainstream ideals such as being a rockstar.

People were standing around on the dancefloors 10 years ago also.

The problem is the marketing and commercial influences.

If you get a lot of new people into the scene, and they dont get to know the culture, the culture becomes saturated too fast and therefor its essence thins out.

This was a point I made long time ago, in regards to a debate concerning thedjlist.

Its not always good to get A LOT of new people into the scene too fast.

Everybody needs to learn from each other and be inspired by each other. Else "it" just doesnt happen, if what attracts people is "Killargh party, Killargh Vibe(lotsapeoplescreeeaming)" etc, then what do you expect?

Commercialization is to blame, yes. Some artists are to blame, yes. Some labels are to blame, yes. Some organizers are to blame, yes.

Its a fact, and yes, its a war. A cultural civil war.

We dont win that war, by sacrificing core values such as tolerance, acceptance and openess. We dont win that war by seperating "us" from "them", we win it by inspiring people and staying true to what we are all about. Have some faith in it for christ sakes (not that you need to be all boom shanti aum naamama) - but, tolerance, acceptance, positivity, philosophy and just having fun.. that stuff will never go out of style.

People cramped together, in front of a big scene setup, all with their hands in the air and the artist doing a Skazi or Eskimo thing, thats the problem.
The inspiration will KILL the vibe for anyone who just want to dance with their eyes closed or whatever... Just them, the music and the collective vibe....

Its out of balance, thats the problem.

You dont restore balance, in our culture, by splitting it up into cliques further. Instead, put focus on the core values of this, and realize that if what you see at parties is the rockstar Audience Vs MEGASTAR show, then its no longer a party for YOUR culture... SO WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING THERE ?

Very simple stuff, when you look at it this way.

And, sorry to Eskimo & Skazi, but if you cant see this yourself, then your just plain blind or you dont give a shit anyhow.

i dont see what the big deal is.......too many people IMO let other people's actions and words dictate their own mood....

I find it useless to try to change other peoples actions since it is something that you and i can not control.....

In my experiences it only leads to frustration and frustration can lead to undesirable and ugly actions....

The best way i have found to try to "change" things is to show by example.....

Smiles and laughter can be extremely infectious....or sharing something with someone can have a positive effect.....or giving someone attention that seems to be by themselves......Many things.....

Words are hollow to many people...

If someone wants to stand in the dancefloor without dancing; then so be it.......no biggy.

It doesnt represent any sort of destructive or elitist attitude and if that were the case.......So What!!!

People who critique often IMO are usually people who look for the negative in things and people......I see that it has gotten pretty popular to criticize and bash people who actually do believe in "PLUR"......I understand this attitude; however i am not in agreement with it.

If we concentrated a little less on other people's faults and a little more on our own error's; things i believe would be much better.....

dont you think it is ugly to alwayz be looking for a negative in what someone writes or says or does?

anyway.......

To each his own.....

Exactly. Criticism is nothing without real action.

Krell also made some good points, but the problem is that people see things with different eyes... For example, a lot of the artists I interviewed think that "a better scene is a bigger scene" and/or that "the bigger the party, the better". Everybody talks about "the vibe", but for some artists and DJs a "good vibe" is just having tons of people dancing, even if its a completely commercial event.

The worst think that can ever happen to our scene (but is already happening) is the change of focus from the music to the "famous Artist or DJ".

Going to a party and not dancing or smiling or whatever doesnt make you a rockstar.

I organise and go to parties for many years and i very rarely dance does this make me Bon Jovi or something?I very seriously doubt that.

Many people including me go to parties just to listen to the music, have a couple of drinks, see some of their friends and socialize, thats the way we have fun just like some others dance all night and get tottally drunked, stoned or whatever.

Different actions from different people.

If you really want to see what a rock star attitude is then i suggest to see some videos from Skazi perfomances from events in Mexico or Brazil,as lame as its gets but thankfully people dont give a dime about him anymore, seems to me they had too much of his unshaved armpits and devil like signs with his hands and awfull heavy metal music LOL

Not to mention his attitude towards promoters and the things he asks in order for someone to book him and i am not reffering only to extreme high ammounts of money ofcourse.

P.S In our days i think we should speak about hip hop star attitudes by the way since rock isnt as popular as it used to be.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!
