as psy trance is taking a big part of my daily life,its like trance everywhere and anytime,and im sure its not just me,any1 who really gets into the music feels the same way ....
As for me ,i live in a community where psy heads are few,or yea there are some but the scene is very underground and ppl into it are counted... I alwayz wanted to get more people into the scene,but the thing is how do i choose the right people who would fit in the scene and can be ones of it and love it to the core ?!?!
All im asking is,how to choose the right people for the psy scene? and how to convince them that psy is the music we need,and the best of it all ? and that once u get into it there is no turn back !!!
We need more n more people.

Very Nice topic!
Getting ppl into Trance is not an easy thing. You should choose open minded person that can overlook the drug issue. That's the biggest barrier. The 2nd is that ppl think that its not a real music, cause its not instrumental and its just for fun... bla bla bla...
The 3rd: The key words: 'its so monotonic... this bom bom umtza umtza..."
ppl do not realize that the kick is just like the foundation of the building, its down there. It holds the structure but it is not visible.
Meaning: the kick is in the background if you know how to listen to the whole track.
imho this are the basic things: choose Ppl with a good musical hearing who can understand motley dimensional structure. Ppl with classical background, or rock that is close to it by it's energy. Ppl with imagination.

Hari om....nice 2 hear a topic from u bro...nways...i feel v shudnt make an effort 2 get ppl in this scene..the ppl wit good karmas end up in the scene by themselves n stay there 4 long..iow..right ppl will end up at the right place!..And right ppl have the followin traits...
*..they dont mind being given knowledge from yonger ones!..they the one who'll understand trance..
*..they wont luk down on ppl listenin 2 other genres of music!..they the one who'll proceed wit trance..
*..they like dressin up 4 parties but dont believe that dressin up like a psyhead makes u one above!..they the one who'll make evry party colorful!
*..they wont ask much of whose playin?..how many people?..till how long?..rather they'll jus end up being there!...they the one who'll last till end of the party n beyond!
*..they talk beautiful sensible nonsense!(ok thats jus 4 me!)

if they like it, they'll follow the sound..
how do u find the right people ???
like nathu said ..open minded ppl... about drugs / music..
ppl. who've followed EDM for a while are more likely 2 indulge into psy..!

first, i think that you should chose a good people who looks to you like the good crowd you know... not everyone is suitable for trance scene...
second, give him some article to read if you got... explain him about the diffrent styles and burn him a cd that will include all the styles of trance...
that two things it's like a add to first posts before me... |

heh,nice question for a topic!
I remeber ma first touches with the scene,as friends trying to convince me that goa trance scene is more underground then the rock heavy punk gothic death ...scenes and the future is in trance...finnaly I became the most crazy trancer.
So if you see someone who likes undergound stream tell him what more underground then trance...
If we make shown to someone how much we like trance, and about all the benefits of that music and share with him classical tunes,there is no doubt that he/she would love trance if is able to open the mind...

Why do we need to convince anyone to do anything? Do lovers of Jazz and Pop figure out ways to throw some kind of bait to lure people into that kind of music? Make your life easier, let people who will find their way into psytrance do it with their own understanding and not yours.

I Totally agree to Gopendra... its all about the feeling of getting in to the underground scene that really drives a person to our community..once he gets der the music, the vibes n a bit of guidance will get him to the right track... its all about gettin him to the right party n showin him wat its all about rather than speakin about it..

if u were at where i am, u wud understand y we need to convince ppl to luv psy.... I already tried with few ppl,yea they said they like it,but they cudnt stuck to it,and after an hour of listenin juz to psy they go like : oh i got a headache cuz of this music !!! wtf was *i liked the music* meant to be ?! C thats y i asked such a question, cuz ppl wud say yea we like it,but they cant take it all the time,or even get into it,,,they wud lsn to it once in 2 days or even more,,,, so thats like when u hear sum old song once a year by a chance on tv.

we don't juged people beacause the way they are look... how are us???
i mean that we first chose them by the way they are act... that's the reason to my words "not every one is suitable"...

Man i think you should be happy with what you have and enjoy these great times because when more people start coming it pollutes the energy of it all.
I think that you should watch out for good hearths and tell only this kind of people for your party! When the other kind of people come they suck energy from everyone. We had the same experience in Malta and we had to stop the parties because we ended up having too many non trance people which spoil what is really trance.
Now we are making more underground parties and it's great to have the right crowd!

@Mad eclipse - I do understand your perspective of why you started this topic. Even I went through that phase but most people are just not musically built to understand anything -- forget even psy, electronic for that matter,unless their down a few vodkas and they begin dancing like bollywood freaks. (I don't think you'd understand me but I got no other term for it ). But yeah, agreed, It's better that people who find their way into it will know what our music is all about and that becomes a point for them to decide. Otherwise it just becomes a bunch of kids who swore they knew what Pink Floyd was all about before the guys who've aged with Floyd.

i totally understand your point of view... and appreciate the desire to get peeps ..... me have tried doin the same stuf... but then end up having heard what you have...
just think of how did we start liking the musikk and how did we get into the tribe.... probably substances or diets got us into this.... and now even without any hard substance we can still convert muzikk into some productive energy.... tats the power of psy...... we have been there to feel it...... and its now in us... a part of us....
it is very difficult to get a total newcomer into listening to psy..... someone from a hardcore metal background... has more chances of gettin into psy....
think of ourselves before psy..... where were we.... was it so easy for us to understand it.......
good karmas are a must.....

psytranec is a genre that requires a taste for adrenaline-pumping music. If u find someone who likes his music fast, hard and relentless then chances are that he/she will like psytrance too... But most people won't like it, and that's normal...
Only way to convince them is to le them listen to it... if they don't like it, don't try to convince them anymore... But let them listen to a good variety... Psytrance is so varied these days that almost everybody who likes electronic music will like some parts of psytrance... And don't bother with the headstrong who still think that making music with a guitar is harder then with sequencers, let them live in their ignorance... |
