for me it doesn't really matter how old is the track... and suppose the track was written 10 years ago and still unreleased? is it an old one or a new one, if not many people heard it before?

i think it would be better to play future-trax. just sometimes play a tune which is released in 4 years. wouldnt that be much more cooler?

1 or 2 Retro tracks can do amazing things.
As much as i like listening to new music and stuff i havent heard before at parties imo a known classic in the middle of the set would be killer.

mabe as a nice retro in the living room

in the party i rather hear some new or unreliced tracks

im waiting for somthing new and good in a party that maybe one time will be a fun retro in the living room

it also depends how far back the track is
, if theres a big gap the bpm wont suit the tracks, you can not go slower in the middle of the party like as a killer middel track, ah ah, and if you do it as a remix, i dont thik to consider it a retro, maybe in the end of the party still, i dont think its a good idea

what i meant to say was that in the midst of listening to tracks you havent heard before the dj suddenly plays an old classic uve heard alot of times before it really makes me happy

ive heard a lot of djs also play hux flux gems, which is nice..

what about old tracks remixed in new styles and production... dynamo acid daze..etc.. i know lots of ppl are pissed off with anjuna beach (delta rip) but it sounds nice imo...

Delta - Travelling At The Speed Of Thought
can drive me CRAZY!

I dont mind if 2-3 retro tracks will be in a set, but not too much.

good music is good music.
but innovation is always needed so we are heading to the future, not the past

its the DJ's choice to play whatever they want...i think if a retro track is suitaable in a set why not play it? generally, the aim of a dj is to play a collection of songs that flows and puts the audience into a 'trance' to make the set sound like one really long song...if you can mix old music with new wat does it matter? as long as the set flows and it sounds good and keeps people dancing it has my vote. in my opinion i think that most older psytrance tracks are better than new ones from the same artist. anyway thats my 2cents

There's room for everything. I know how it makes me feel when I hear a retro classic at a party, particularly when the DJ does something clever with it and puts it in a totally new and unexpected context. It blows me away. It's a bit naff though when a DJ drops and old school classic just to get a cheap pop from the crowd. Ray's right. A good set sounds like one long tune whatever the age of the records.           "One nation under a groove".
