I think our ears have evolved over the past few years and even though i am a large supporter of keeping 1-2 oldies alive in almost every set i still think that there is a limit to how old the track can be and that limit is determined by the production quality
with all due respect i just cant hear a low quality 93-97 track in a party (maybe at home)

I think the funny thing is that a lot of darkpsy doesn't have better production quality than the old school, yet that stuff is incredibly popular.

i had the same question myself and i think that yeah,it is very nice a track or two in every set !i'll try it next time(how about BIOTONIC-third link???.a masterpiece that brings a lot of memories in my mind)

why do it on purpose? if you think it goes the best with what you're playing, then sure, do it. But inserting an old track for the sake of it is silly imo.

yes i know but still is an old track,multi played(in solaluna 2001-samothraki it was played at least 10 times)
i would characterise it more like a classik track,not retro,but still i would like to have it in my set
well,maybe in a private party hehehe

hehe, i would love to hear some older music in a party, cause the music, atleast the night stuff is like one long track. blasting, but not very varying.
its good for tripping balls, but man, wouldnt it be
great to have those gems who really say something in there?
much psymusic is like swosh swosh, bam bam. few stories in there. ego death maybe, but the sonic adventures are lacking:) |

Yes, for sure.. even when riktam played in bbay recently he dropped in boom shankar, and a couple of classic oldies, crowd loves it, internet psytrance critics dont... (haha internet psytrance critics dont think gms is trance)
personally im all for a few well placed oldies on the dancefloor, as long as the sounds in a set r cutting edge, a few oldies are only going to add to the madness..
everyone likes a familiar tune they can sing along too!! |
