i think its very relative...every brand has cases of unsatisfied and satisfied users...i heard a lot of bad things about vaio for example and i have one old vaio with me for years that i use for production that has fallen to the ground 2 or 3 times and still is solid as a rock, cant say nothing bad about it...           ``We shall not cease from exploration - And the end of all our exploring - Will be to arrive where we started - And know the place for the first time.``

Asus has the best laptops outhere, surly you can find a model which suits your needs at an affordable price.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

i find that a laptop with core i5 or i7 and more than 4 Gigs or Ram , with windows 7 64 bits its more than enough to throw almost anything on your DAW. Just be sure to get a fast hard drive 7200 rpm . toshiba and high spec dells are fine.           www.soundcloud.com/elektroakustica/sets/downtempo/

I am planning to buy a laptop in the coming months. Not sure yet whether to go for mac or not. But I think it ll be a mac book or a mac book pro. But now comes the question: does anybody know when mac comes with new laptops? And are there any other companies that make really good stable trustworthy windows based pcs? i prefer to spend a bit more on a good laptop than to spend 900 on a laptop that might not work..           soundcloud.com/supergroover

I have an HP Compaq which cost me around 500 euros. The worst thing about it is that it's lightning fast, light and mobile and everything works great except for the fact that it hates USB soundcards and I've been battling and battling to run it without this scratched vinyl like crackling coming through the signal. I've found out that the only way for it to pass clean audio is to run it from the USB port furthest from me with a buffer size no bigger than 4ms. DPC Latency is constantly in the green and I've tried every possible solution to get rid of the noise with no luck.

It's come to the point where I stress everytime I play live in case those crackles suddenly return in the middle of a set and my audio drivers crash forcing me to reboot. Ouch.

So I'm in the market for another budget laptop that wont give that problem although it seems like quite a gamble... Are Asus' laptops that reliable?

well do a google search, they do a lot of oem work for other companies so their own line is considered very stable. I used to face crackling noises in my dell when i would mix music.           "Whoever said the best things in life are free... obviously grew their own bud"

ive got an msi laptop core i5 with 4 gigs of ram, and a tower pc i5 quad core and also with an msi mother board, flawless! used to use asus stuff, loads of trouble, look for anything from msi or gigabyte, for music performance and stability is assured with both of them.

Never buy a 1st generation of a new line of Apple products. Steve's beta testing his products, on your expense.

Peace out.
