Question to the organizers&promotors

I was just wondering.What`s your motivation,the reason why you organize,promote,sale your product,you consider this as a product,a conception,just a party,you want to satisfy your ego...why???

When you see a commercial line-up you know that the organizers are out for the money...(but they fool them selfs, the cost is very high for these artists.) so they have to make cuts in the deco, no chai.. and so on...
when you see a underground line-up you know that the organizers are heavy trippers! 
or something like that... exceptions must always be in the calculation..

Yep Triptocoma, I was thinking the same. The motivation of a party is usually quite recognizable in things like location, line up....
You said it basically yourself Justin, there are those that do it for the money, or ego feeding, those, that want to promote a certain artist or label and others, that just want to have fun.
I don´t think any of the ones that are doing it for the money, or ego will reply here and say that that is their motivation. The ones that do it for promotion, already make that obvious by e.g. calling it "label party" and probably see also no need to reply.
I wonder, where are all the organizers doing it for the fun!?!?

Hey I did my for fun and helped a few friend organize theirs for fun.... The only problem there is that you loose a lot of money if you don't calculate the public corectly...

well, here are my thoughts on this - as a promoter.
i've been going to parties where psychedelic trance has been played for about eight years now. some people were exposed to psychedelic trance after they had visited another country - often goa, sometimes thailand, sometimes bali, sometimes other countries - backpacking in europe, ect. quite a lot of other people, especially where i live, simply got into it via the local underground dance music scene. i live in the city where doofs were born. doofs, originally, were not psychedelic trance parties, although they are now. originally they were a blend of lots of different types of music - detroit techno, acid techno, hardcore, acid trance, and - as it was gradually brought back from overseas, and produced in australia - psychedelic trance.
now, i've gone back into this little bit of reminicing for a good reason. because these are the seeds, that were planted inside me. these are the experiences that were to shape the last eight years of my life. psychedelic trance has, for good or for worse, become a huge part of my life, as i'm sure it is for many others out there. i have travelled across the world, partied on four contintents so far, and i've seen, and been a part of, huge parties everywhere.
what i want to do, as a promoter, is to give that experience to others.
i want to learn from everything i've seen and experienced, from everything i 've learnt about psychedelic trance and about parties in general, about what i, personally, thinks works and doesn't work to create a better party experience. i want to take all that and create my own parties. it's the same psychology i use when djing. when i dj, i'm using techniques and methods that i've seen so many other djs use in the past, combined and merged. so i apply this to parties, also. hopefully, others will grow off what i have created - and while i'm only ever, as are we all, just links in the chain, i like to think i'm pushing the scene further, developing and evolving it.
and, hopefully, not losing a shitload of money in the process.
i think some promoters sometime submit a little to ego and economic gain. i think what's important to reflect on here is that we all, regardless of what we'd like to claim, submit a little to ego and economic gain. even if someone's doing a party that'll cost them $500 for 100 people, they'll still want to put a $5 door charge. they're not out to make money, but they don't want to lose it either. ego is another thing. we all feel better when we can create something that entertains others.
most promoters know there are far better outlets to make money. but no-one is involved in psytrance for money first and love second. sometimes maybe money runs a closer second than most of us feel comfortable with, but never lose sight of the fact that there's no real money in psytrance. no-one's going to get rich from psytrance - maybe a few people at the top of the pyramid (hail eris!) are going to earn enough to fund their lifestyles for a year or two - but this isn't going to last, and everyone knows it.
anyway, that's just how i see it. maybe i'm stupid. hell, of course i'm stupid - i'm a psytrance promoter! ;-)

and its not money they are bitching about, its people who are greedy for money they are bitching about.
anyway back to topic, I think one reason some promoters make parties is to make and support a sommunity of people who share some things in common, such as love for the music, etc etc. My two bits. |

Well,I really don`t understand sometimes when they say"I don`t do this for the money" but....It`s people with no other money entrance!!! So It shouldn`t be a problem If the money is the motivation,the nasty thing is when they ONLY think about this painted papers with funny faces,and they forget about the rest...
I`m talking now about this demagogic crap surrounding this scene.
If you know me you know I do it for the money...actually I have a meeting soon with my financial manager,I need to know where there is more prophit to invest my millions.BTW,all this life surrounded by bikini chicks,margarita coctels and limousines are improving a lot in my spirituallity,just to let you know...you should try dear reader !!!

Yes offcourse you do it to make money, but wen that becomes the primary goal of the party than the soul is dead. To make money must be a concequence of the good party you've organized and the good vibes you've put in to it...
