I totally agree with Gaspard here, the "rockstar factor" is getting too big within psytrance. I've seen it happen with other genres in the past, so I guess it was only a matter of time before it happened here too

coming from an artist point of view.....
traks these days have endless amounts of automation, effect plugins virtual instruments and so on, u can barely write a track without bouncing half the elements to audio files anyways, computers simply arnt powerfull enough yet to do the kinda live gigs u want without a big risk of malfunction in youre tracks, shure if u had 5 nord leads and 5acess virus hooked up u could maybe get away with it,but what artist has that,u can only get 2 simaltanious sounds from a synth!!,that means most tracks have huge amount writen with virtual synths......
most artist will be too scared to risk a disaster palying live then bouncing and playing a compiled tracklist that is fused with extra elements!!
as for adlibing,i mean what can u really contribute 2 a finished track that isnt already there!!!,us artist try to perfect our tracks in the studio, anymore would usually cluter the track, risk the punters ears,or just sound stupid....i mean who can play along with a track pusating at a perfect 142-46bpm in time, even with apregaiters it is very dificult,...
dont get me wrong,u can pull of live gigs but u need to spend countless hours preparing them and less time actually making new tracks,it is an artform in itself to be able to play electronic music compleatly live without problems.....
what do people consider live anyways?????
its all pre recorded anyway, except it want be mastered to get optimam perfomance on the dance floor, maybe even harsh to listen to!!!
give the artist a break,if it were more fiasable it would be more of a common thing!!! |

if you've seen the sonkite live in tokyo dvd, then i guess you get a pretty good impression on how a real "live performance" can be done.
good to know: with son kite you can be at least certain they will use all the audio material provided by the organizer.
and yea, this more and more observable superstar "my-music-is-the-most-killarrr-where-are-my-groupies?" attitude in the scene sux

...yeah and son kite played exactly the same set on fusion festival germany this year. lots of people who are owning the live in tokio-dvd where disappointed and felt kidded.
anyway,
if LIVE would be as possible as some people try to make the crowd think, producers wouldnt need sequencers or mouse-buttons.
you have always maybe 5-30 parallel tracks running in a production (midi and audio). and you always have 1-x parameters on every track which can be modified.
how many hands has a human?
anyway its amazing what people do with just 2 hands (midimiliz)
a good liveset is just a perfect balance between recorded and live.
but i also dont count a fake-set in a bad way if the floor is burning. fire is fire. no matter where it cames from.

I dont know why ppl likes live acts soo much! Most r fake lives n when theyr not fake u gonna listen to the last 2 albums of this producer. I cant even hear a whole album from the same producer, its very rare to me. So id rather listenning a fine Dj than most live acts!!! But, where r this good n non commercial anti-cheese trance Djs?hehehe |
