I'm actually pretty happy about this change.

as far as i see it, ppl will get bored from the ''glitch trance'' as DiMiTry call it
and will get back to the sources to find more musical psy.
the age of goa is gunna come back big time!
and now it will be more complex and intresting from the old goa.

let's hope more artists like derango will come

Its easy to distinguish a track from 1999-2000-2001 era from the recent released tracks because older tracks were much more original and atmospheric than the new ones. They had more spirit if you ask me and it was pure joy listening to them.

Even tracks by the same artists are so different with each other.

Take Deedrah's masterpiece Reload album and compare each track there with any of the tunes he has released in the last 3-4 years, the production might be better in our days but the older tracks are much more original and interesting in my humble opinion.

Try to compare Etnica's old tunes with the recent ones,no comparison at all.

Older Koxbox with the latest album? No way.

Space Cat,Oforia,Astral Projection,Yahel and Infected Mushroom? Its like listening to tottally different artists in our days in worst editions if you ask me.

Even Skazi was so much better during his debut album,i dont know what happened to him after Animal album.

Anyone heard Astrix's first psy trance tunes? They were gold masterpieces and very original and atmospheric.

GMS older stuff comparing to their latest tunes? Not even once in a million.

Bamboo Forest?X Dream?Orion?Electric Universe?Man With No Name?Logic Bomb?S Range? One of the same i guess and the list just keeps going on.

Not to mention an endless list of artists that just stopped producing music unfortunately for us.Artists like Power Source,Sandman and his Green House Effect project,Mark Allen,Tsuyoshi,Blue Planet Corporation who dissapeared for many years,Total Eclipse and many more.

Some got bored, some got tired, some got rich, some stopped, some just dont care anymore, its very natural if you ask me,no one can do the same stuff for many years and its natural for people who have seen the world ten times and have played in crowds of tens of thousands to get bored and tired with all this situation, these guys have travelled so much that they see nightmares with airplanes in their sleep and waiting queues on airports.Noone can blame them for not being as original and innovative and spiritual they used to be back in the early days.

Very very few artists developed in my humble opinion into something better than they were before.Artists like Prometheus who for me is by far the best artist in the scene at the moment,Son Kite and Atmos the progressive masters,Vibrasphere who keep delivering amazing music,Silicon Sound who is also great,Dino Psaras and Tristan who are still front line and both very original and sometimes even controversial,Hallucinogen ofcourse with his amazing Shpongle and Younger Brother projects,Jaia and the Spirallianz guys and Xerox along with Illumination who are by far the best and most powerful act coming from Israel at the moment in my humble opinion.

Things naturally evolve like Fragletroller said above but unfortunately not always for the better and for sure not in this case.

Thanks to all the names mentioned above and everyone else who i forgot for the wonderful legacy you have left us,even in ten years from now the music from those days will sound like heaven in our ears no matter what else you will have produced in the meanwhile.Really thanks for all the memories and amazing melodies.

P.S I am no music expert the above are just my personal opinion.

Man, you really nail it....reading my thoughts all the way.
Like all music styles, trance will also go into the past to re-invent itself. The constant quest for identity makes you search for old symbols of that same identity.
All the diferent styles of trance that emerged from one main sound are nowadays owners of their concept, diferent from each other and going on diferent paths, still the common ground they share is what keeps them under the same banner...
But as detox said the present lacks the atmosphere, the spirit and the soul you could find in the past

Trance as we know it won't exist in 5 years time, or else it will be the new disco

trance will always exist. people may change but the scene is viral and spreading.
like a epidemic

the music is getting better and evolving also. i think the music i heard the last year or so is MARKEDLY better than the music from last year even...

whether an individual artist improves or evolves or not is not based on trends but rather on their interest in staying with this, their talent or intelligence, and whether they are being pressured to create differently than what they wish...

one thing never changes- trancers are picky bitches who like to complain.
im the first one to admit this

Pople wanted money... and power... power of having the best label and making th emost money...

cut n paste was formed via software programs and so the effort in making a trance track became much easier... therefore it exploded and there is an overdose of this music... nobody puts the effort into spending hours on hardware to find just one sound, nobody sweats anymore to reach that perfect trance spiritual high...

psytrance now is just a term to make th emusic seem "cool" and "underground" when really most is well produced euro trance... a higher end of what Rober Miles and such used to make...

and it sucks. it really really really sucks.

it's like saving up all your life to buy a $5,000 Armani suita and getting a fake from China instead... the style now, and has been since 2002 is just a rip off... producers and labels owners like HOMmega/BNE/TIP World etc. get fat off shit music and just don't care about what the scene used to mean.

I"m going to an awesome festival (supposedly) end of this November... and out of all the big fat arse groups, I think only two vaguely excite me (Midi Miliz & PErfect Stranger)... the rest of the time I just plan to get wasted and enjoy a weekend away from my girl... the music can be pop for all I care, coz it is mostly full on shite.
