I been spending so much of time to try to make some cool leads and sounds but it seems like am getting no where. Does anyone have any good tutorial or idea of how to do this please. Its so frustrating man. Am sure you been there as well.

Thanks for your time buddy and hope to hear something productive from someone soon...

Well for those types of leads, you need a lot of modulation, and automatization of a lot of different parameters in the synth, try playing with lfos, those have a lot of movement, try always to play with the filter cutoff and make the lead talk, always modulating, try different waves in the oscillators, not the typical saw! ( not that there is something wrong with the saw) just try to experiment, and automate every parameter in your synth, that way the leads start to get more and more of an acid sound , and twisted!! and layering is the answer, try to do the same lead with 3 different vst or synths, and play those at the same time, you need to eq every channel so it doesn't cancel each other, with one vst, you make the low end of the lead, then with the other the body and the 3th you can use a modulated sound or lead or arp, or something with a lot of modulation, and play the 3 together, bounce, eq, process again with some sound FX, or distortion, what ever floats your boat!! you will get a fat cool lead for psytrance twisted and trippy ! add delay and play with the feedback or mix!

they use lot of fm , oscs syncro leads , osc fm modulation leads stuff like that, dont know much avalon and burn in noise music but i guess it s similar to dickster stuff (circuit breaker with burn in noise ) and there is lot of this

if u dont know check on the net for synthetis technic on oscs syncro . for fm leads it can be pretty basic depending the synth , you modulate a osc by a other one and you can just explore until u find sweet spots.. between their frequency and fm amount...and you can mix these technics syncro , fm and more..

ni massive could be a good one for that stuff..i think i would first try on this one to go for similar sound... fm8 is tricky to program at begining, but it s great for digital fm

Thanks for getting back to me buddy. What is this oscs syncro mate? I looked for it on the net but can't find anything about it? I'll definitely the other advices you gsve me though. Definitely the FM synthesis.

Cheers mate...

This is quite a good tutorial mate. Thanks for that. Just wondering if you have any good tutorial regarding how to use samples creatively please. Or any other tutorials that i can check out.

Thanks buddy...

What do you mean by audio rate bro? Do you mean sample rate? Even the synchro, i can't find anything about it online.

Thanks for getting back to me buddy...

audio rate means that the modulation's frequency is within the limits of the human ear, that's 20Hz-20Khz. for instance, an LFO - low frequency oscillator - operates at a frequency bellow that, if it can go faster, into audible territory, then it reaches audio rate.

FM synthesis is all about audio rate modulation, for example.

syncro means soft/hard sync between two oscillators. easy enough to find info online about that, syncro is short to syncronized, sync even shorter - most common tech name for it, actually.

Thanks for the reply mate. I'll work on it now. How about samples. How do you use them creatively. As in to make a lead sound with different samples. If you know what i mean.

check this he explain fm with the cross knob (often labelled as fm on synths), ring and sync a little

and you will hear a little the possiblity for making leads
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3FJEw5WMdk

maybe try on easier synth though like diva maybe and it also sound better than ace imo but what he does apply for many synths..u don t need these in particular
