has anyone of you decided to pursue the study psychology formally at university, a proper accredited one which gives out degrees and qualifies you , as direct result of listening to psychedelic trance music?

Psychology is a fake subject...I have a worthless masters in it..I suppose not totally worthless as it pays my bills but intellectually worthless..total joke and waste of time..Better of reading fiction.
If I was 18 I would study stochastic process and apply it to the human mind...
It is rather obvious...
Same feeling as being a doctor in the middle ages and bleeding people..You know it is doing jack fucking shit...
My day is spent listening to people that I pretend to help who are so beyond fucked...
If you enjoy watching Requiem For a Dream on loop then do it....
I know what you are thinking..going to "figure out the mind" ehh?
Figuring out the ocean of randomness doesn't pay your bills....there is nothing to figure out..its random..

Does the other way around count?
My interest in psy trance is strengthened by my prior formal education. It's also the main reason why I don't touch E or its immitations.

I study it to, and yes it's utter bullshit since there are no measurable parameters whatsoever and everything is in the eye of the beholder. What is fantastic about it is that as in let's say the psychodynamic perspective there are bulletproof laws to confirm it's own existance.
As in me just denying the positive aspects of psychology, that makes me applicable to the defence mechanism denial. (which nullifies my statement and approves of the very existance of what I just denied)

I am interested in psychology and have read some in my free time,and yes,psytrance have boosted my interest of the human mind and deeper levels of our psyche,although the interest has been there before psytrance got in the picture this music has made the interest stronger.
I am very fond of Carl Jung ,i like that he was breaching the barrier of traditionelly western viewpoints of the mind and started to look at other angles.
Especially i am interested in his writing about the self and his attempt to think ,talk and write about concepts as "spirituality" and something more than humans just being flesh machines programed by the subconscious.
Now when i got a bit started i think i will create a thread about Carl Jung in the "Spirituality " chapter in a couple of minutes ,or a bit later.

What a jaded pessimistic view. Sure, a lot of psychology is subjective bullshit but you can't honestly say that it doesn't help people.
Lots of people have mental illnesses, and they need help. There are some people out there that have the personality, training and temperament to help them. This is not a debatable issue in my mind.

That is true. The word "science" strongly implies a particular methodology, and as great as it is, it doesn't apply to all disciplines. It's great for physics, terrible at cultural/subjective anything.
Psychology etc is certainly a discipline, but I don't think it's a very good science. Science is about explanation, not truth; it's about prediction, and thrives on the particular form of criticism of finding flaws in theories unique to sciences. That isn't so good a method when you are trying to help individual people in need. |
