ya man ok but these are bands not one guy.
if say we have 4-5 guys, and each one is handeling 5-10 things, then yeah, maybe this can be kinda live.
tonight i am playing at a party. i am playing my own tunes from cds, and yeah, some of the sections are a few tracks pre-mixed in the studio. made unique for this party, for this crowd, for this vibe - in mixmesiter no less.
preparing the best presentation i possibly can of elements of my music for this crowd. i'm gonna be drinking some redbull vodka, toking a spliff and making weird dali-like dance movements, and having loads of fun interacting with people who dig my tunes, isn't that what it is all about? and yeah, couldn't care less what ableton freaks have to say

AnywAy, the point is I would rather watch someone mix their stuff nice and cleanly/melodically on CDjs rather than watch someone fake twisting knobs. I thought psykovsky would be better than that from all the hype, but it is utter bullshit.
Just Go Home if you are going to fake a performance in front of me. |

Anyway, most don't dj coz they can't. Even some of those re:evolution CDs on Flying Rhino were soooo poorly mixed, and don't get me started on that Digital DJ mix that Digital Structure put out, a dog could've mixed that better with it's arse.
Most psy muso's I have seen over the las decade or so try to dj just train wreck, so they prerecord in Ableton.
I've always said I'd prefer a good dj set over a fake live, but digital dj'ing and even some CDJs now has sync buttons, that while not perfect still make it super easy. EDM is going downhill very quickly IMHO.

Wait, sorry Mike.. So, they are Faking a Live set because they can't just DJ their own music??
Somehow I don't think so, I'm sure someone who can write such "complicated" music can learn to DJ to an efficient level...
I think its a bit more to do with the extra money factor for a "Live" set, building on their massive hype train which all along has actually been fake while no one has said anything. :/
Anyway, next person who reads these boards and sees psykovsky up close please take a look... Would love if he read this and responded even though ive spoken to the stage manager about it

Mate to be perfectly honest I could not care less about what live acts do or don't do. I haven't been to a psy gig for 7 years and don't plan on going to one any time soon. I'm married with a kid and like my comforts at home.
I also prefer bands now a days so mostly just go to heavy metal gigs or rock gigs.
Psykovsky can pee in a cup and drink it while shooting ping pong balls out of his butt for all I care.
I don't see why you started this thread attacking only him when a mate of mine at said event clearly saw all the Suntrip acts clearly faking as well.

lotta Big names are making this a trend. sad for sure. ive been in ur place sphongled247.. lotta artists who i actually 'grew up' listening to ..went for their gig once even if they shifted to cheese shit ,and ofcourse they had fake lives.
That aside.. its good to see people keeping an eye..
for sure, there are over 80% people ( no judging here) who arent bothered , even dont know who is playing & what, like beat agency mentioned - as long as what comes out of the speakers is nice - which no doubt is the Main thing. dont know who started with this LIVE category and makin it so popular, im reading random kids who dj have the tag Live near the names while they dj ,its so damn silly..
nyways.. its here to stay to gain more attention i guess..
havent heard psykovsky over 2 years now.. but i know what ur talking abt.. ive seen some of it work though. this was during da budet album days..
i still remember him for indigo child , compos mentis and erlkoneig..still listen to his first 2 albums quite alot, thats abt it. dont care abt whats goin on now , his edm/knob experiments etc ..

Sensient used to always advertise his sets as "lively" indicating that it was either mostly prerecorded or dj with some basic live elements on top.
But really I couldn't care less anymore. As I said I'm more interested as to why the OP chose to single out Psykovksy when my mate clearly saw most live acts at the same event faking it.

Very well said Aaron, I never understood the hype about Psykovsky either, Eatstatic, I can understand. And as far as OOOD and Ableton are concerned, they may have some track playing, they also have one guy playing keyboard, one guy playing fx and one guy on the drums, and they sync well together it seems, they are playing music, as a band, I think this should be acknowledged.

Y'know Ocelot, I spoke to a very highly regarded promoter a few years back who'd looked in to brining you out as a headliner, but he said that you were such an arrogant unprofessional individual he paid for Psykovksy instead who at least was professionaland was a generally good bloke.
And yeah when he played we knew it was a preset Ableton gig but fuck it was fun, including his weird moves with the knobs. Which is more than when I saw you years back. As I recall you barely touched a single thing on stage & man were those pupils dilated!!
BTW heard a great story recently from skate about how you almost had a run in with some Russian military/security a whole back whilst tripping balls over there. Funny story.
In the end no one like an arrogant smart arse cunt, which is why you've never really been popular here.
