Hola Grill Master -

It's agreed that Psy Trance is one of the most formulated genres of electronics I know.

It's agreed I should seek out new directions

It's finished being considered and done in these moments ;-)

Bom Shankar,

When I wrote what I did, I had two ways in my mind -
One is of those DJ's that after years of playing a certain genre just felt fed up with this and moved on. If u r spinning then u have to buy vinyl all the time and to practice all the time bcuz ( as far as I know ) to spin good is like to have a good piano technique - means lots of homework. DJ's that play psy sets sence the early 90's ( again Tsuyoshi and friends ) would easily get bored with this and I can easily understand that - and seek other ways of expressing themselves.

Besides - they can seek the way to get some more money which is completely normal.

The way you connect to art is very correct one ( I really do understand your point ) but it is also a little naive coz we live at age where Money is the nu god and therefore u have to put it under the consideration.

About House and Tekno - well it's definitely matter of taste my friend and I can say that I can enjoy the Sarah MacLachlan thing ( any one of the mixes ) most of the time better then any of the 145 bpm psy tracks.. What that it makes of me... am I going to the other side?

Maybe what I try to say is that Psy Trance is for a long while stopped being a FOOD FOR YOUR BRAIN - and most of the time it butchers your brain. Check for how many good releases there are against the flops - and u will find that well.. There is nothing like a good psy trance.. Too bad most of it is gone -

Quality Tekno on the other hand pffffffff
Ritchie Hawtin ( Plastikman ), Josh Wink, Sven Vath - they are in the buseness for so long and they still INNOVATE!!! They always come with some new shit.. Even if it's a minimalistic boring ditch.. It sounds different and new FOOD FOR YOUR MIND - Check this out

Yuli has a point here.
I think that not the money is evil but the attitute towards it. Or there is only one possible attitude no matter what you think? ;(

Yuli.
first of all regarding the money i see it as something i get stuff with it.
i mean when i work spend all me money on records and audio gear and other stuff i like books etc...
i have a work and i am student too right and now and i guess for ever music will be part time stuff.
cuz u need the money.

just for you to know
hawtin vath and wink r kinda mainstream stuff in tekno.
the REAL innovators r from the underground if u think hawtin is cool (i find his new stuff boring)
i have some names for you which will make you go insane.(in a good way).

Well It's about time that I join this debate.
I was at the Dinamo last night and had a small debate with one of the workers there, this guy is a "Braindance" fanatic. we started arguing about the value of DJ/live sets by mr Richard D James AKA Aphex twin. he said that a DJ should always play the most underground and chalenging music even if it makes everybody leave and just 5 people will enjoy. I said that I rather slip in 2 or 3 inovative trax in a set that 250 people will enjoy and that maybee some of them will like the Avantguard stuff in the set. if no they will still like most of the rest of the set. what I said to him basicly is that DJing is an art of ballance.
I like avantguarde, and Techno and PsyTrance (Though I get bored by Goa nowdays) I also like some house stuff and Funk. but as a DJ I think that I'm about 2 steps forward of the croud I'm playing to. so my mission is to take the croud forward. I do this by going one step back and bringing the crowd one step forward. balance is very important.
If anyone has heard me play recently, i slip Club and Techno tracks into my psytrance sets. i also slip Psytrance into techno sets. I think that crosovering helps revitalize the music.
as to the problem of Trance DJ's playing techno or club sets at trance parties, blame the Promoters that bring them. a good promoter should know what the DJ is playing, and shouldn't bring a DJ to play at a party just because he used to be a big attraction in the trance circuit 3 years ago. this is about promoters trying to make money on the back of the people dancing.
I'm playing at the dinamo next week, I'm closing the party. I know i won't play my usual 135 BPM progressive style, I surely won't play bang-on hard Techno. I will probably mix older Goa with some club-melodic stuff with some good new material, it's really a chalange for me to close a club party but I will try and do my best.
All well, DJ Borris.

Hey Boris, it's easy to close the party- even I can do that very well- the question is how long can you keep it open ;-)

OK As usuall changes occur.
I will be playing the Opening-warm up set at the Dinamo this thursday. Expect progressive-deep mayhem.
and Shahar, you know I can keep a party going for a long long time, it's just a Question of when do the Sound people want to leave.

hope I'm not flogging a dead horse here (or sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong), but as a sabra in the states, I am very happy to hear that Israeli dj's and producers are branching out from the psytrance shit. Even trance/progressive dj's in the states like Jerry Bonham and John Debo have taken things deeper in recent mixes, and i really think it's an indication that the clubscene as a whole is growing up.    And for those who grimace at the idea of boring ole techno at their tranceparties- you need to experience Richie Hawtin live to understand why this deep minimal shit rocks the real underground in the states.  Peace. Love. Soul

Hey all, advice: Get into apartment(or wherever you all live), Get rid of your parents(if they still live with you), Press the POWER ON button on your stereo, Take a CD called "TRANCE" which is written by california sunshine, READ WHAT IT SAYS ON BOOKLET OR BACK OF CD, conseptualize the idea that DAN wrote for you, sit down on your chair(no matter what it's made of, but preferrably comfortable), Oh, before you sit down get bottle of Orangeboom beer, or - what's available, then sit down on chair, put CD in, Press play, Tune Volume up to a very very high volume, so that when neighbors scream from window you can't hear them etc..., drink beer, smoke if you do. And listen to music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And say BOM BOM!?>
Ohm, Nam, Shivayya, brothers and sisters!!!!!

PEACE!
