William Shakespeare once said,
What's in a name?

if u ask me,i say..."The name says it all"

i got a logically reasonable name for the psyambient/downtempoo/beatless section for us..

-=-Swar Taal Sargam-=-

Swar meaning the soundz(Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni)

Taal, (variously transliterated as "tala", "taal" or "taala") is the Indian system of rhythm. It has been argued that rhythm is fundamental to the creation of any musical system. Certainly from a historic standpoint, rhythm existed many centuries before the word rag was ever used. Given this historical preeminence, it is not surprising that rhythm occupies an important position in the Indian system of music.
The word tal. Tal literally means "clap". Today, the tabla has replaced the clap in the performance, but the term still reflects the origin. The basic concepts of tal are: tali or bhari, khali, vibhag or (ang), matra , bol, theka, lay, sam and avartan. We will now discuss these concepts.

Sargam is the notes of the Indian gamut are known as sargam. Just as the English word "alphabet" is derived from the greek letters "Alph-Beta", in the same way the word "Sargam" is derived from "Sa-Re-Ga-Ma". Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, are simply the first notes (swar) of the Indian musical gamut. The swar are Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni. Whenever these notes are sung in a song it is known as "swarmalika".

3 words says it all

hahahaha surely. not good combo!
punkah (pún-káh) comes from punk+ selectAH (jamaican), and in portuguese when correctly pronounced means "panca" wich is a term that means someone slightly brain damaged

anyway, i kinda like Tall Sargam, its weirdo and drives people curious, and also has that crazy refrence to tablas and stuff.
and my vote for Moderator so far goes to Master Margherita, such a nice name for a moderator.

Can't production methods, tips and values be applied universally across musical genres, or is there some magical cosmic frequencies, only those in the "psy-chill" camp can access ?

Definitely no. But there are some nice effects which are quite common in the ambient/chillout genre and you won't find them in psy tracks...like glass-ish noises, nice dreamy pads or deep, thundery sounds.

Would be nice to read about...how to make it.

Just my two cents
