definitely think it's a worthwhile question and just the sort of thing a forum on psy trance should be used for (this is aimed at the person who said it was a stupid subject)
psy trance is deffo supposed be full of nice ear tweaking noises which mimic the psychedelic experience. Long live psytrance and the acid freaks... |

I'm right here ms. lola. I guess we've all had this discussion more than once before... It's subjective, a matter of taste, and since psychedelic music is not something that is tangible, we can all go around here in circles and get no where in trying to give absolution to the word psychedelic music.
however, if we are trying to define it, and i had to describe it, i guess it all comes from the root of the word 'psychedelic' which means a mental state characterized by a profound sense of intensified sensory perception, that is sometimes accompanied by severe perceptual distortion and hallucinations which many times are produced from various drugs producing this state, as LSD, mescaline, or psilocybin. Which sometimes resembles a reproduction of images, sounds, or things of this nature that are experienced while in such a state.
So whatever sounds like this that makes you feel this way is what i would consider psychedelic music.
As far as progressive music not being considered psychedelic.... i guess that's their opinion. But most of the time, the people that have this opinion in what i have seen are so lost up their dark asses they can't see anything beyond their asshole.
Sure their is a lot of music that i don't consider 'psychedelic' and their is a lot of progg that i wouldnt consider it as well, but to write off a whole subgenre, is just narrowminded.

I think it's a form of body language.
a way to express feelings,thoughts,intentions,
or even questions,
with music,
without actually have to speak about these stuff.
something i must say works for me,
cause i'm just tired of explanations,
prefer my body to do the talking,
going back to the premitive
forms of communication,
something animals continue to do as as a matter of fact:
a sound or a move and they clearly
make their point.
The whole subgenre thing,is just the letters,
u combine them,making ur point too.

No need to define it mate. Trance music usuall has a 4/4 or 6/8 beat. Psychedelic is a state of mind and different for different people.
Have people listen. Talking about music is like making shadow puppets to show what sex is like. |

I heard they're renaming Goa to Progressive State. All the Portuguese Villas will be torn down and new Progressive housing will be built for all the hard done by locals, since they're skint from years of rinsing hippies and freaks, all in the name of Goa, Portuguese heritage, the new freedom fighters want Goa called Progressive |

I joke anyway, for sure I think is all confusion and chaos because of those junky dark heads, we have, us, the psychedelik trancers, to fight and kick off from our movement the progressivers and keep our genre clean and crystal clear.
COME ON, STOP with all those subgenre!
We have to be pure! go search the roots of psychedelia and positive vibes!

Maybe I have no idea what is psychedelic, but as far as I am concerned, the music I write is mostly 130 bpm and FOR ME is more psychedelic then 90% of the full on genre.
