another pointless topic...everyone gets music in different way.. for someone psychedelic is a bunch of noisy sounds and for someone it is divine symphony... psychedelic trance is kind of electronic music...so as progressive trance... . Psychedelic trance is a level were in reality few people achieve...I don't agree that it can be a bunch of noisy sounds, music is the one element to enter this state of mind then of course you need the people to be of your same wavelength and the nature to complement such beautiful people...This is for sure from my experience, there is a complete difference between what stands as today's Psychedelic Trance which in reality is far away from the real thing! Psychedelic trance is an expression and sound in the music, not every sound is good but every sound is crafted to give feeling and make you dance till you drop!

So it's better just to call it other names but really Psychedelic Trance is still to come i think cause it was lost somewere years ago!

          Boom :)

Actually, good question, i have been listening to psychedelic trance for a really long time, and i still haven't figured out what it really is. I know that i can recognize it the moment i hear it...
so what u re saying is that progressive trance should be kicked out as a psychedelic genre because it is not psychedelic enough!! hmmm.. where is magox?

nice 1 bro .
that was my point , but not kick , i think progressive is strong enough to stand on he's own

I don't consider most progressive trance (melodic, usually house influenced stuff) to be under the psytrance category at all, but I do consider all of the psygressive, minimal psy, progressive PSYtrance, and all that to be under the psytrance category.

So anything actually psychedelic..at least to me..but then that gets into the whole eye of the beholder thing that everybody will argue over anyway..

you know?           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

A collage of Electronic pulses with atmospheric and/or other effective sounds that can generate weird tingly crunchy mental and/or physical sensations when under the influence of a psychotropic drug is what psytrance really is.

respect for safi connection.

Psychedelic trance (often referred to as psy trance) is a form of trance music, developed in the late 1990's. Psy trance has a fast beat, in the range 125 to 150 beats per minute (bpm), compared to ambient trance music and other forms like house and techno. It has a strong bass sound that beats continuously without change and is overlaid by many other rhythms.

Psy Trance was a music, first hand-made by local DJs then by European musicians, aimed at being played during "mystic" parties on the Goa shores for a bunch of neo-Hippies. Today, the answer is far less obvious, so less that we can even wonder if this music still deserves its name.
And most of all, because of the introduction of loads of Techno elements, among other reasons, the music has become more hypnotic than psychedelic.

And moreover everyone floating in psychedelic trance and have their own different opinions on the music...Get more information about all kinds of trance from here...

The trance dance experience is rooted in the Indian spiritual experience. Ancient sadhus, Sufi fakirs and babas used to do it staying up chanting and moving all night to mantras and Indian instruments. In the morning they would go and perform a Surya namaskar. The format of a trance party is the same; the party begins at night and peaks with the sunrise. It is all based on the belief that everybody has seven different chakras. The strongest one, the Kundalini, is supposed to be located at the base of the spine. The others are red, blue, green, yellow, pink and white.
The way it works is that during the night, music that is dark, hard, intrusive and twisted is played. The sun's energy is the purest form of energy. With the coming of the sunrise melodious morning music is played. This is the time when the stronger chakra attracts the others to itself.
At this point, known as the Kundalini Shakti or psychedelia, one achieves a sort of elevation of the spirit through this form of active meditation. It is the representation and continuation of the old tribal ritual. The only difference is that the instruments with which the music is made is now electronic.

excellent interpretation and indeed very true.....to get a feel of how a sufi or sadhu dances while in a state of trance, it is highly recommended that people visit a Kali / Shakti temple or Shiva Temple to witness the Tandav Nitya or could also be called dance of Natraj.....the moves we see now a days in trance parties is nothing compared to the Nitya these sadhus do and have been doing for centuries....

A Kali Bhakt Nitya is truely awesome and i have personally seen women witnessing this dance and going into a stat of trance swaying from side to side with their eyes closed.....all this without the influence of drugs - just the chanting in the background, smell of inscence, sound of the shankar and occasionally ringing temple bells....
