Psy Progressive almost indistiguishable from the club sound

To me it is a big dissapointment. I find nearly all prog releases can not be distinguished from the club sound that djs like Sasha, Digweed, Cattaneo etc. play.

It's not that it is bad music, but for me does not have the edge and the hypnotic feel of the prog psy sound that I fell in love with a while back.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I agree because most of those early euro-trance DJ's are moving to progressive trance since Euro-trance died a long time ago.
I hear Tiesto spins some sweet sunny/morning progressive these days (non psy).

For me it is the predictability of the current prog sound that gets to me, you know exactly what is coming, it is always the same breakdowns, predictable melodies, electro samples etc.

I disagree, but it really depends on what you're listening to... all the progressive house crossover stuff IS played by the big jocks, so there's no question it has club appeal. There is a lot more aside from that though. Keep searching.

i dont really see it as a bad thing. a lot of psy has been stagnant the last few years, so a bit of change and evolution is exciting to see i think.

where it will end up, who knows, but thats part of the fun. there always has been and always will be the different shades of commercial/mass appeal, and more underground stuff, in prog or whatever. it makes it that much more sweeter when you find a hidden gem you really like
