hey all,
i happen to love ferry corsten, paul oakenfold, armin van burren, ian van dahl, tiesto, atb, dj sammy,b.t., paul van dyke.....among others , all comming under 'progressive trance' ......i do see a lot of guys here really into psy trance.....

so i guess i am asking your opinion of progressive as opposed to psychedelic.

i want to understand the tastes.

That is progressive trance? those names scream 'commercial trance' to me. As for why I don't personally like such stuff - it's used to sell shoes. There might be some quality music with depth in those domains but years ago I tired of sorting through the sheer amount of rubbish (standard trance template + vocals, remixed by 80 different artists).

to me progressive trance is stuff like FREq, vision and canedy, krueger and coyle, phony orphants, antix, etc.... and I like it..

what you call progressive I would call club trance, or euro trance, or ibiza commercial trance, or something like that... and I dont like it

but each one to his own =)

What you're mentioning isn't progressive trance at all... try listening to some Sander Kleinenberg, James Holden, Cass & Slide, Hybrid, and check out the compilations of Global Underground... what you're mentioning is more generic/commercial trance.           To hell with reality! hi all,
i'll ry to pull up some music by the guys you have listed, thnks for their names.

well i guess one could call it euro/club trance........but for me, no other type of music can give me such a natural high.!!
i mean there is this amazing feeling, a total mind trip, when listening to trance, isint it! with progressive, it just keeps going higher and higher.......{u know what i mean} ..my experience with psy is that i feel it is negative in some way, i just dont like its vibe.

i guess its the 'uplifting' factor of progressive, that i feel cant be found in other subdivisions.

please give me your opinions on the same!

You don't like the psytrance vibe? It's negative? Well you've come to the wrong place then. I started out liking some of the artists you mention above but it's become so stale and boring and well formulated.

Have a read of the reviews section and see if there's some music here you would like.

As for progressive trance, check out atmos - 2nd brigade. album of the year imo.

I fully agree with Nemco here. What you're summing up sure as hell isn't progressive.

James Holden, Markus Schulz, Lemon 8, DJ Taucher, Daniel Bruns, Sander Kleinenberg, that is progressive...           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

Some of them have progressive works , but if you sum everything none of them are progressive artists. So me with Acidhive and Nemco.

P.S. Main difference between house and trance is the music flow . House is static music based on groove where groove is the main subject of music. Trance is melodic music based on melodic baseline and melodies when groove is not important and usualy basic layout just to make it danceble .

Progressive is constructive when you know what going to be next and cold vibe music done by own mastering style . Progressive can be everything trance(Son Kite) , house(Vision and Canedy) , techno(Midi Miliz) or chillout(Alegria).
