Are there ten times as many full-on parties as there are progressive parties happening in Japan or is it just me? I hear about several full-on parties every weekend, but I usually only hear about a progressive party about once a month or so. Is it because the promotion/ advertising is underground for progressive events? Or are there just not as many going on? There must be much less money in organizing progessive parties as there is in full-on parties.
The progressive events I've been to this year have been absolutely amazing experiences so I would like to get involved more if I can!

Yeah Rick I'd like to see more progressive parties too. However, because progg parties are the exception not the rule, it may help to keep them special. I agree they are gems....

Ahh.. Proggresive parties. As Kaatisu has said yes, i think we should keep them very special. You never get such a good qualilty crowd. Progg parties bring the best quality parties, i think and if we did too much prog parties it would bring the wrong crowd. But even before this prog music doesnt bring a big enough crowd to do something every week, this is probably the main reason why not too many organizations want to risk doing a prog party every week.

Labyrinth was really amazing!! One of the best parties this year.
I sugest to Russ bring MOshic (israely progressive Dj) to Labyrinth next year... He have the Labyrinth style, His last album is a blast!! No doubt the best thing I discover this year after Sub 6.
Sub 6 is another sugestion for the line up!

Hello all!

I'm just wondering if there is much progressive in the psytrance scene in Japan? I have noticed that SO plays progressive, though I don't know exactly what sort. Anyone know where I can hear a DJ mix of SO?

But I'm basically just wondering how much of the Japanese scene is full on and how much is progressive... what do the crowds think of the music, do they want more of one?

Thanks
Dwight.

The proggresive scene in japan is getting bigger.
Not too big but good enough. They have a good crowd compared to the full on crowd.

The percentage is about 15% of all parties in Japan. There are only a few organizations that specialize in proggresive.
The best DJ is So for sure. You can check out his mixing every weekend at some party. As he is constantly booked.

So are parties just one or the other? Either progressive or full on?

Is there any combination or musical journey? Ie. full on night and morning moves into progressive daytime?

Thanks for the info

I think ur right EYB. There is a lot of full on here as there is everywhere. The big parties especially tend to be full-on. I have a feeling that Progressive is on the decline in Japan and the world.

Trance Cafe are nice organizers of Progressive Parties in Japan. Very friendly vibes, nice people.

I've seen some other progressive parties organized but very small. I think DJ Ryo from Solstice played a progressive set at a party last month. Omb is a progressive producer from the Anoyo crew.

There are links to these organizers from my website.

Hope this helped,
