Hello Groovers !
It's been a while now I was wondering what is going on with the progressive scene in the massive continent of North America !?
I have many dear friends spread out in the states and they all say it's pretty lame on the progressive side of things, Also I find that no many progressive producers are up & coming from your end and I'm really really buffeld by it all
Now I'm talkng about progrssive psy trance! after all we know where the progressive house came from and respect for that
Like anywhere else the following of Full-On music is much bigger but slowly slowly things are moving towards the more groovier/funkier/uplifting side of things.
like anything the perfect thing is a comibination of both full-on & progressive music. IMHO
So please shine some light , I'd be interested to hear your input on this matter...
Keep the scene growing and give people diverse parties with all styles! after all a good party is like a story that MUST have a start, a middle & an end

here in L.A. we rarely see a progressive act...
shamefull to say,as a promoter, its tough to book progressive acts, because the majority of the people want full on banging stuff all night all day.i prefer, and would love to see progressive acts during the day,but thats just me.im one of few......
from what i can tell, people only know Son kite,Atmos, and Ticon.there are many more acts as good that dont get noticed by your everyday trancer...bottom line is the majority of the people coming to our parties want to here fullon most of the party, and thats a shame.
we are the minorty in this issue for now,but like you said, thing are moving and groovin.
i personally love the minimal, progressive, techy, style that seems to be missing from many parties.
i think it can be very deep and psychadelic, and shows off production skills...
hopefully there are more people out there that agree with me.
peace!

Imo, people dont want to hear progressive because they have not heard it. The more it gets played, the more people will keep asking for more.           Load Universe into Cannon. Aim at Brain. Fire.

i agree 100%... i would love to see a sunset set by vibrashpere or yotopia while chillin with a ice cold kinngfisher... ahhh the good life           "Like every great religion of the past we seek to find the divinity within and to express this revelation in a life of glorification and the worship of God. These ancient goals we define in the metaphor of the present—turn on, tune in, drop out."

there couple of labels that releasing locally produced proggressive sound(polarlight from ny, and psybooty from sf)
i agree that the perfect setting for progressive beats would be on the beach with cold beer, but while living in new york u learn to adjust yourself and let your imagination work, especially when dancing to sunny grooves of son kite together(literally) with the BOAT(frying pan) itself and rain with the wind singing acapellas in sharp stacatto
it's hard to catch attention of trancers, when bringing a quality progressive act or a dj only(the all progressive parties that spectra and omnitribe threw did'nt get more than 300 pple), alladin project been trying to mix progressive and fullon for a few paries, tdc is featuring a progressive room with local dj's;

p.s talking about quality progressive muzik, THOMAS PENTON is playing LIVE this friday at sullivan room, for 10$ only

here in nyc, i would say progressive is on at least equal footing with full on. for a while, the only big promoters were omnitribe and spectra who focused almost exclusively on progressive sounds and artists. as someone else already mentioned, more recently promoters are trying to mix it up more now, which imo is a great idea. alladin project through a halloween party w/ son kite and void, which drew a very large crowd (for here anyways ;o)

big acts like son kite and ticon have a large following here. boston also has a rep for having a lot of progressive djs.

as for local producers, there is an artist Onnomon from my hometown of philadelphia, he has an album out on soular records which is definately worth checking out. although his music is not strictly progressive per se, i think it meshes well with more proggy sounds.

for our own parties, i also favor a mixed approach. i like to book end progressive sets for the opening phase of the party, and then again in the morning after sunrise with more full on sounds during the "peak" nightime hours.

in summary, i would say progressive psy gets a lot of attention and exposure here in the northeast, perhaps not quite as much as full on, but i think the progressive "scene" so to speak is quite vibrant, healthy, and expanding.

hope this info helps           PSI - the Philadelphia Shamanista Initiative
