No-one is making any personal attacks, as far as I can see, but the basic gist of the post is that MuthaFM is a pointless radio station due to the following irrefutable facts:
1. You cannot run a business on love. Investing your life savings in something after running successful clubs, without doing the correct research and then running a PIRATE radio station from an ILLEGAL venue and having to convert it to an internet radio station is NOT a successful business venture. There's love for music, and I will never ever deny the power of that - but since when has love paid the bills or paid the staff that work for you?
2. Playing music on the radio is subject to royalties - something MuthaFM more than likely is NOT doing as they only recently got a legitimate venue, and don't pay their staff. Internet radio or not, royalties belong to artists. Let's not get started on illegal MP3's or burned CD's of dubious origin... If we're going to talk about the love of music, how about we give some love to producers and artists who make the music we all love? Where's MuthaFM's love then? It's all very well to preach the love of music bollocks - until it's YOUR income they steal.
3. Getting a commercial radio license is subject to many stringent criteria - one of which is NOT having been an illegal radio station at one point and also having large amounts of cash in order to pay for the neccessary equipment and building requirements, that would be neccessary to house a functional radio station that would air 24-hours a day. 5FM started off with R30 million. MuthaFM still do NOT have a sponsor, which would allow them to apply for their commercial license. Last I heard the deadline was December last year and they are still sucking their thumbs and waiting for money to drop out the sky?
Come guys. Do some market research.
Psy-trance and dance is a HUGE market, but in SA the money is in hip-hop and R&B. It's where the kids are at, and those kids are the one who spend mommy and daddy's money. That's why 5fm is killing (has killed) the scene that was barely breathing anyway.
If MuthaFM wants to be big, the internet is where they should stay. At least then they have a chance of reaching an audience that appreciates the music that they focus on, that is no longer commercially viable in the country and that will more than likely limit their chances of ever getting their commercial license from Icasa.

prove me wrong and unsuck....but i doubt that is ever going to happen....
anyways thats all i am going to say about this....as this is a trance forum and not a "muthfm-bashing" forum.

I Played on mutha fm just before vort ... lank professional and i played prog .. so dont say they are not diverse.

Yes i am a complete and utter wanker...
NO...i just have my opinion, and you know what...in life, people have varying opinions believe it or not....not everyone is always going to jump up and down and agree with whatever everyone else is thinking or saying, so yes , i am entitled to my opinion on mutha fm, i am allowed to voice it since this is forum is open to mixed opinions...
i do appoligise for being rude to you tho, because that was uncalled for, guess that side of me gets the better of me sometimes, so appoligies there.
