thats great indeed and deserves respect in these violent days... (well, which days were not violent?)

police in switzerland is quite cool if u are not a foreigner or conspicuous in another way. besides the more hidden corruption, of course...

You've got a point Krelm. Here in the UK police behaviour varies from region to region. The more rural the area the more easy-going they tend to be. I've seen some horrors perpetrated by Thames Valley police, setting dogs on young girls at parties, that sort of thing (BASTARDS) yet in other places they're pretty laid back towards parties, you can have a laugh with them, take the piss a bit, and as long as the party isn't bothering anyone then they let you carry on. It's far more hassle for them to break up a party than to contain it, so they usually just stop any more people from coming onto the site.

I'm just thankful that they don't carry guns in the UK.

It's fair to say that all governments are lying c*cksuckers (to quote the late, great Bill Hicks. How the world misses you!), but it's also fair to say that some are far more brutal and oppressive than others...          "One nation under a groove".

The best way to deal with Police, however and wherever the encounter is, is by getting as much information about legality matters and using it for your adventage.
Examples: the best weapon aginst police in Israel is (believe it or not) a hand-held video camera and even better - a reporter's cerificate. Its amazing how everything changes when they see themselves recorded in evidence of an illegal search - this doesn't make the party more legal, but their actions are illegal as well.

This is to show that we found out what is legal and what is not, what are our rights and what are the police's rights, and use it accordingly.

Knowledge is your best weapon,

And how does the law defend us Helen?

Are cops allowed to do spontaneous searches on ravers?

No, cops are not allowed to do 15% of what they are actualy doing - but as I said, without knowing your right and being able to prove an illegal cop action, the cops can do anything. Even if the party is illegal, drugs are sold on the peremises and illegal teen sex orgies are held there (yummy), the police has rules that binds it - search and seasure, rights of privacy and more - as long as someone is watching over their shoulders...

The idea is to show the offensive policemen that we are not so volnerable and easy to get. Most of the hassle given to Trancers is because they are easy target - they do illegal drugs, thay are in a place of illegal gathering etc', and many allow this kinda treatment out of fear and ignorance.

A good example is the Good Karma party cruise, where Police attempted to board the boat, search and plant undercover cops as partygoers. The whole scene is documented on tape, a case which continued to court and if I remember correctly won by the organizers. Further more, to the second launch party of the Good Karma movie (where the above scene takes a good place) the organizers invited a LAWYER to the party. I wanna see policemen dealing with that!

My point being - it might not help with certain type of police, but most of the time, if you have nothing to hide (dont come complaining that u got busted for holding 2 grams of hash, as stupid as the idea goes it still illegal) then a recording device and a strong attitude can deter many policemen from doing whatever they want.           auspexx@compact-records.com

Helen Do you really think your Gouvenment or Court system would care less if you have been unrightfull treated by the Isralie cops? They make up their own rules and are supported by the Politicians and judges mate. Don't forget your youth are surposed to go to the Army and your gouvernment think that trance is the devil's music that will corrupt the youth and turn them into junkies. A junkie is not a good soldier!

Sorry about the political comment.... But sadly it's the truth and not only in Israel alone.

I guess that's the way in Denmark (not...), but in Israel, from long (and sometimes hard) experience, this method worked almost every time. And yes, I do believe (again, out of experience) that a court of law, even in Israel, will listen and definately rule in favor anyone who can prove that policemen have acted illegaly. The only difficulty is to actualy stand up and pull this all the way to the end, something that costs lotsa money (lawyers, taxes) and time. However, most lawsuits that actualy got filed and had some 'meat' in them (see recorded material advice above) were won.

I think that in this subject the Swedish police (at least) can learn something, since they are by far the worst case of inhuman treatment of trancers. They have rights of seasure that sounds fashist, even for an Israeli. I think that in their case not even a camera and a lawyer will help...           auspexx@compact-records.com

here in brazil a policeman get a montly payment about a US$250,00...for sure this can influence him to be agressive and corrupt. Influence but not justify.

well, i think that the police are not against the parties, they just looking for out law activity, like drugs, in countries that drugs are very popular, the police will be more at the parties and more parties will get closed.
anyway, the police must understand that like there are drugs on the trance parties, there's also at the all kinds of club's parties, but the police is talking about the trance parties ony, specially the outdoor parties.
i enjoy trance like someone else enjoing hip hop, i don't use drugs, why can't i dance at parties to my favorite music?           like a dream,
with no end and no begining,
living the now hoping for better tomorow...

I agree with Helen, know your laws, police needs a search warrant to search you personal property.

A young lawyer at a party is probably the best protection along with a video camera, that really scares the shit out of them.
