Album - Polaris / Polaris

This is Arnauld Stengel's first debut album. All tracks are produced by him except Moon Shot (track 4) with cristophe donna aka Polypheme. Additional percussions on Aurora(track 2) by Laurent Pellisier.

I was looking for a nice morning album before i bought this through listening samples of upcoming releases. Due to the impressive release by neurobiotic previous release (Tikal's Album), i gave this one a try. I was quite impressed and ordered it shortly in a matter of days.

This album itself is quite a different full on from the rest. Instead it is extremely morning style with a slight touch of progressive. Let's see the tracklisting

Tracklist
1 - Regeneration (144 BPM - 8:15)
2 - Aurora (144 BPM - 8:15)
3 - Time Travel Remix (144 BPM - 7:51)
4 - Moon Shot (145 BPM - 7:52)
5 - Bluebell (145 BPM - 6:37)
6 - Zion (146 BPM - 7:23)
7 - Runner (147 BPM - 6:53)
8 - 20,000 feet ( 145 BPM - 8:01)
9 - Leo (145 BPM - 7:41)

This release by Arnauld (Polaris) has really made mornings feel good Got my cd yesterday and went for a road trip this morning to a neighbouring country, pop it up at my cd player in the car and my mates were feeling the groove to it. It was 5am hehe. My fav tracks are (5) this track has a nice intro, lovely bass and a great trancey feel to it, (1) Great opener, nice synths and atmosphere in the track , (2) lovely intro and i like the break change after 2:12, lovely! ,(7) I cant make out the vocals but i do like the intro (again) and a nice track again.

The remaining tracks are still great tracks overall. One thing that i really like in the album are the intros (good work on that), quite a subjective matter but i really like it hehe But at times things can get a lil bit repetitive in the album but hey this a debut album and i am quite impressed. Maybe if Arnauld could add in some nice melodies, the album would be awesome! Overall, this is a nice morning blaster album

Rate : 7.5 / 10!
Recommended : Those who like morning tracks, its a great pick me up before work or school

i thought it sounded lame and under-worked.
just another full on clone.
i think there was one good track.

i think this album sounds very fresh, the general atmosphere is hypnotic and groovy, full of subtle sounds and melodies, reminding me of progressive, yet it's got driving basslines and pounding kicks, reminding me of full on

it's not a killer release that will set dancefloors on fire, but it's plain and simple good music i like to listen at any time of the day

This release is a massive. I cannot get this out from my CD player. Wish there would have been a bit more tribal percussion as their previous released trax do...don't you think? It is great release though.

You're right Surrender. Last psytribe outdoor party, Spyros(psytribe) played first track in the morning...it was absolutely beautiful. One of the best track ever heard in the morning...

Tell me what you listen, and I'll tell you what you are.

Not agree that this is a full on clone, it got spirit inside and very acid structure, this guy knows how to tweak your liquid out.Very psychedelic full on,not often like this ,the only thing is that a bit repetetive sounds here and there but after all very nice fusion of all styles.Wondering how is the Altom new album will be now, Neurobiotic getting better and better.

Hi guys!
Thanx for the nice review, although I don't understand what bluespectralmonkey says about this album.

The shops are full of "killer releases" at the moment, and this one is something different than that. We didn't want another full on clone, this is, in my opinion, intelligent music for people looking for something else. Who heard a Polaris live set, knows what I mean, and those who played the tracks of this album in the morning can understand what's this music about.

Thanx again, and be ready for the Altom album!

I love this album! Pure dancefloor delight. Finally some full-on psytrance with 'open' beats and really pumping grooves with transparent and superfunky sounds on top.
Neurobiotic really has a nose for good artists.
Always wicked comps, albums by Tikal, Polaris, soon the new Altom...Keep it up Eduardo!

Even this album is completely not what im playing,i just wanted to tell that its really good produced full on with taste and high quality, inlfuenced by old school psychedelic roots and containing unresistable beats perfect morning party atmosphere.
thats why we picked Polaris to guide people through the one of the morning trips on Transit this year.

i guess i was in a nightime mood when i listened to it.

it is distinct but also similar to lots of other morning style out there. not that thats a bad thing, but just not in my case i suppose. no hard feelings.
i will try it again, as you all seem to like it a lot.
i mean, i like other artists in this style, that cd just felt funny somehow....
but who am i to judge?

best of luck with the album!

I recently went to Conzzept Records (main psytrance records shop in Copenhagen) to buy the new Sub6 album but just before I left Omid told me to give this album a listen too as he had just booked him and liked the album himself. I must say I didn't know Polaris but I soon found out it was one of those albums where after hearing track 1 and about 1 minute of track 2 I instantly bought it, no doubt that this is a killer release and I still hear in on a daily basis - great work!!! =)
