Pioneer DJM600 Vs. Pioneer DJM800 ?

I was curious about the functions on these two Mixers from Pioneer. What abilities does the 600 got that the 800 does not have? Does the 800 have all the possibilities, sounds and effects that the 600 got, or is there SOMETHING that separates the 600 from the 800? A friend of mine said the 600 sounds different, better for psytrance. Other friends tell me there is no difference, the 800 got all the powers the 600 got and more.

This might be a strange question. I've been dealing a lot with the 800 in the past, but never have I tried the 600. I wanted to buy me a mixer, but since the 600 is a lot cheaper than the 800 I thought I'd check with you experts about what I'll be missing out on, or for that matter, gaining.

As a bonus question, I would like to know if there is another cheaper, but just as good (or better) alternative to these mixers out there. Tips would be highly appreciated.

PS. I was unsure about posting this in the 'Equipment' section or in the 'DJ'ing' section.

haha that’s just awesome! When I used the Pioneer DJM800 I missed the possibility to layer the effects on top of each other.
This you can do with the EVO4 which is very Cool! *I know you can layer the color-fx with the effects on the 800.

What about something which would be possible to buy for about 500 quid’s and less used? (Like the Pioneer DJM600's price range)

Question: Which Ecler mixer would be in the Pioneer DJM600 catagory?

.. and the Pioneer DJM1000, does it contain ALL the same as on 600 and 800 combined?

*still questioning if the 600 has anything special about it that the 800 can not do. (by chance)

my pleasure oggab0gga I can really recommend the nuo5 even tho its not very up to date, its still a superb mixer much better than the DJM600..

Them knobs are like stiff nipples and the soundquality is very warm and nice... And the EQ has full cuts while the effectsection is nice to handle with the dry/wet fader + that you can edit the effects with the software

Looks like the effects on the Ecler EVO4 only follows the BPM..? On the Pioneer DJM800 you can have the automatic BPM chaser turned on or off. I like the resolution and depth possibility though. Ok, so I guess my initial question about 600 Vs. 800 is so nOOb that it doesn’t deserve an answer, hehe. I'll take it as a No, the 600 does not offer anything that the 800 is lacking, be it sound or effect.

You know, being a new beginner, not knowing which mixer to buy for DJ mixing (Knob-fucking), be it Pioneer, Numark, Ecler, Denon, Korg, Allen Heath .. when you don't know what you should look for of specifications, words. It's sort of frustrating.. I'm currently looking at Ebay for cheap used ones, and since the only Mixer I know is the Pioneer DJM800 I tend to measure everything up to that one, which means I feel sort of safer to only look for 600, 800 or 1000 (my wallet is saying 600). It's a shame, because apparently I might lose out on a GREAT mixer to please my knob-fun needs because I got a lack of knowledge (please don’t ask me to read read read). Of course, with the years passed when I get to experience other mixers, get to become safe within definitions and usages no matter which mixer I'm looking at, it will be better. It's the road to the PRO that is hard. I love the 800, but it is so god damn expencive!

The 800 has so many advantages over the 600 that the only reason you would ever buy a 600, imo, is because they can be gotten really cheap used right now

Big bad things about the 600:
* The 600 is analog and the 800 is digital. Even if you like analog, the 600 is way noisier than other popular analog mixers.
* On the 600 you can only assign one channel to either side of the crossfader, where with the 800 you have unlimited options in this respect.
* The 800 has the roll effect.
* The 800's knobs have a big white mark on them that's more visible in the dark
* The 800's master volume is a knob rather than a fader, so it's harder to accidentally knock it around while mixing.
* The 800 is pretty much more visible in the dark in general.

Could someone please do a follow up on this regarding the DJM 1000?

Thanks a lot!!

.. Wait a minute, is it so that the 1000 model is not anything similar to the 600/800, because it is a model on its own away from DJ Mixing/Effects/Colors? I'm in need of a mixer that I can have fun with, manipulate sound and mix it trippy. As mentioned, I know and love the 800, so I thought that the 1000 would be even better? - Thing is, I just got a Great offer to buy the 1000 model for almost (a little over) the same price as I would pay for a used 600. And it is new, not even used. I'm in serious doubt about what to do with my money and regardless of how nOOb and silly my question(s) is, I would highly appreciate your help.

Edit: I guess since the price I'm being offered for the Pioneer DJM 1000 is so good
that I should go for it and buy myself a FX-Unit to cover the effect/color loss.
+ The sound in the 1000 is supposedly much better then the sound in 800.
