Lol, never been suggested to me before Fact is, I've been into Barrett era Floyd since I was 15 years old. I am now 20 years older, and in that time have read quite a it about Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett etc etc. All the stuff I mentioned, can be found in various books and web sites, if you know where to look...

Yes, confirmation by Wright:
But Floyd's music has often been described as "drug-inspired". Do you think that suggestion is wrong?
If you mean Pink Floyd took drugs - you're wrong. There is no way that I could play music and take any kind of drug at the same time.

I love that movie, and the music. If they did it without taking drugs then they even deserve more respect for what they did.

Set the controls for the heart of the sun
Floyd is a wide horizon full of feelings
the more that u listen to their music the more that u discover
they got their own dark psychedeleic touch that might be beyond ur mind
they r gods
and the movie wow no comment just go and watch it try their concerts and the wall as well |

Apart from Syd Barrett, the other Floyd members may have smoked a little something, but that's about it....

err....sorry dude, but thats rubbish. im a huge pink floyd fan and sorry to burst your bubble, but they all did copious amounts of psychedelic drugs. syd barret just a lot more than the others. he permantenly lost his mind. the others also did sick amounts of lsd. read any books on pink floyd and the artists lives, you will see just how much drugs they actually did.
you dont INVENT psychedelic rock, and never have touched LSD. it just doesnt work that way.
it is "impossible" to comprehend exactly what true psychedelia is without having experienced a psychedelic state of mind (and guess what, unfortunately, you have to take psychedelic drugs for this). and no one had a better understanding of what true psychedelia was , than pink floyd |

We know that about Syd Barret, but the above is an interview given by Rick Wright.
Nobody is questioning syd barrets use of drugs on stage, he wasn't able to play most of the time, played one cord all evening, fell of the stage or just walked out in the middle of a concert.

From an interview with David Gilmour in Der Spiegel magazine:
"SPIG: Have you yourself taken LSD?
DG: A few times, but LSD was clearly not our thing. After all, the man I have replaced, Syd Barrett, has suffered real damage from LSD and similar drugs. He was useless [after that]. I haven't seen him for 20 years. He lives in a house in Cambridge, goes shopping and washes his clothes in a launderette. But that is about all he is capable of doing."

Yes, it is a shame Syd Barrett became a vegetable.
But the good thing was that David Gilmour came in.

there is no way to do all those things pink floyd did without psuchedelic substances ...
i mean think about it:
hammers that doing a parade
dogs that singing
setting up a big stage and performing all alone....
and as someone mentioned above,u cannot invent psuchedelia without the infection..
pink floyd and kraftwerk are in a competition inside me for the place of NO 1 BAND of all ages
