hey people. hope this isthe right place for this but here it goes. I bought and watched the Pink FLoyd - live in pompeii dvd a couple of days earlier. I saw that in this forum, there has been some mention but not a topic regarding it.
I think its a very well done dvd, covering screenshots from pink floyd playing in this awasome area in pompeii, it has some images from the place itself and some footage taken with the band. the issue of using new tech (syths) is brought up often and discussed with the band, as well as the in-group problems.

so to make it short, if anyone has not watched this dvd, go and find it. definetly a psychedelic piece. my respect for the floyd has gotten even higher after i saw this.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

Yeah I would definitely agree, although there are different versions of this film. Are you talking about the new one (maybe a year old now ?), the "directors cut". If so, then it's quite poor compared to the original version which only has the live footage from the original gig in 1970 or 71. There is also another version with footage from the studio sessions of DSOTM including interviews and some abstract stuff, which was recorded later. That's the one I like the best. The new one also has some pretty weak computer animation.

Dunno about the different versions, I have the old video- and for me it's the most psychedelic peace of plastic ever.           ---------------------------------------------

This one is a real classic, everybody should have it or at least watch it.

Pink Floyd - Gods of Psychedelia
As Shahar mentioned, It is easily one of my favourite pieces of Psychedelia!
The place pompeii with the volcanos and a stage wih no audience around, these guys defined psychedelia for me!

one of my favorits music videos (along with everything depeche mode did....)           Out Here We're Stoned....

Wasn't it in that movie were Gilmour said something about Floyd not being or taking drugs. I think he said - trust me on that-
Though his eyes looked kinda redish.....

Set the Controls for the heart of the sun on that dvd is the most pyschedelic piece of music ever.

I thought in one of the interviews someone asks about drugs and they all laugh because they are stoned?

Yes it seems they are stoned all the time in the movie.

Though not everything that "seems" might be so, the guy (cant remember his name) from Jethro Tull said in an interview that back then they let everybody to belief that they took lots of drugs, which was very far from the truth since he never did and was very opposed to drugs but it was better for their album sales.

Apart from Syd Barrett, the other Floyd members may have smoked a little something, but that's about it....           Turn On, Tune In, Trance Out!!!

Ok, thats a very interesting statement, can you back that up somehow?
It seems you know a lot about this time period, you wouldn't be by any chance...
