Nick Mason also mentions several times in his book "Inside Out" how the drug image was pretty far from the reality of drug use in Pink Floyd. Syd aside, he comments on how the band was, if nothing else, just simply too damn busy to take all the drugs they are claimed to have taken.           New Album: Jikkenteki - Flights Of Infinity

With or without the drugs they sure kicked ass.

But I think LSD did have a profound effect on their music, in the very least the other band members were surfing and feeding of all the trippy far out vibe that was going throuh the mind of many people in the 60’s who were consuming these drugs, like that mad tripper the prodigiously founder of their very own band Syd Barret. I think all that was a great influence on the direction their music went. And you know without that seer of visions Syd Barret albums like Shine on you crazy dimond would have not been made. He was the crazy dimond, I think magical and great feelings were involved there.

And probably Pink Floyd owes much of its depth and mysteri to the vibe originally set by that truly crazy mad cap Syd Barret, he you bet your ass was a true psychedelic person exploring the boundries of reality with his own mind. He had that trippy feary vibe, if anything he was like the soul of what represented Pink Floyd.. and the man umm yes did take a lot lsd. I love all of Pink Floyd, but some of the earlier albums have a lot of humble soul and mysteri that some of the older ones didn’t <<as much>>. The later ones were better produced and musically more impressive and ofcourse kick serious ass as well.

Mainly it was Sid Barrett really the full psychedelic guy, he took a lot of Acid is his young age, he took acid while doing rehearsals with the band and also on stage, in the end he was getting heavy a little taking it almost everyday, which then started to be a problem for the whole band, in fact the last gig he played with Pink Floyd was in 1969 Alexandra Palace London, he was full acid, while he put a hell loads of Mandrugs in a jar of hair cream mix all together and poured all over him, he was taken of the stage, and then the band considered to continue without him, that’s where David Gilmour took his place …..

I have never heard that one, and I could not find it in Amazon. What album is it in?

another track that is very psychedelic is the "main theme" from the More album. Or the "Narrow Way" from Ummaguma, beautiful mystical feeling.

They had so many original stuff. Animals was also a fav album and ofcourse dark side of the moon.

I could never really get into Pink Floyd but i have to give them big props for all that they achieved.

One thing that does come to mind that i thought was pretty cool when i tried it years ago is the 'Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz' sync thingy. If you are a Pink Floyd fan then you will know about this bit of weirdness but if you don't then it's well worth trying out for a laugh. 'The Wizard of Oz' is a surreal and psychedelic film as it is but with 'Dark Side of the Moon' it becomes seriously odd... and some of the syncs (if they are coincidental) are pretty damn freaky.

This is one of the many sites about it:

http://www.rareexception.com/Garden/Floyd/Floyd.php

...and a more critical look:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/s2ozfloyd.html

You can even get copies of the film with the album already dubbed over it!

Coincidence or not, it does make for a very strange experience... just don't take it too serious.

Peace

That video is in my opinion Pink Floyd's peak career moment. The live versions there are much better than the album versions.
Another mention for drugs issue: Rick Wright was fired during The Wall due to a Cocaine addiction.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

it is a single, sung by roger waters and is featured in wall(movie).

if you have seen the movie there is no way you will forget this and the scene when the song is played in which the little kid's father dies during the war. and later the kid searches in the drawer and finds the note that the king sent his mother to inform his daddy is dead...

it was relaesed in echoes as well... you should give it a losten bro... hope i helped...           We meditate upon the Spiritual Effulgence of That Adorable Supreme Divine Reality, the Source of the Physical, the Astral, and the Heavenly Spheres of Existence. Have you guys ever heard this version of Embryo? I used to have the CD but they stole it, however I found the track in Youtube. Its totally different from the original embryo and if you like Pink Floyd you will really dig this gem, the singing is not that great but the music is fantastic. How the song starts, and then around min 4:10 you can hear the baby crying with that awesome bass. You can listen to the whole song here:

And another GREAT rare track is this version of "the narrow way":

Love Love LOVE Live at Pompeii. Its like they were playing a concert to the ancients, who all died in 71 AD. (I think)

Great version of Echoes. And the scream in Careful With That Axe, Eugene, damn... thats a scream.
