The only people who care about all of that nonsense are other DJ's. Everyone else just wants to listen to music. |

I agree that mixing is only means to an end, it serves the flow of the set, not a goal on its own.
Still, its important to know how to use the basics of the DJ equipment (mixer, EQ, CDJs/Turntables) to be able to create this flow - sometimes by downmixing and weaving the atmosphere, and sometimes by actual groovemixing - it all depends on where you are and where you are going with the music.
OTT, thank you for the wonderful music you make, I'm happy to tell that it is YOUR music on Blumenkraft that taught me that beatmixing (or rather - groovemixing) with chillout is possible. I now do it as much as I can when possibilities arise. I find this very satisfying and interesting as I can crate my own tunes out of your (or any other creator) beautiful music.

I don`t know....basicalyy If the people like it,that`s fair enough.
The rest skills are important but not absolutely necesary indeed.
So If you get a good result with not a really hard work,fair play.
But If you get envolved in to your set(with your emotions,with your skill,taking risks)well,can be very very nice for yoursel not as a DJ,just as a human being,constructing something that is coming form you.
