Don't buy ACER. Never. Ever. Don't. NO. big no no.

I know about 4 people with Acer and ALL have serious problems after very short time.

One has a broken cable in between laptop body and laptop screen causing the image to flicker since the first day. They WONT replace it because he installed XP over vista....

Get a macbook pro and be happy with ALL possibilities open.
Dont get a normal macbook.

a Windows Laptop "can" be as stable as a mac, but you will have to do work to get it that way. maybe you need even some luck.           Most of my music for you to download at:

my brother has a Acer and it works fine!

maybe they just had bad luck? im sure not all of their laptops breaks...
as i said you need a little bit of luck aswell

but i cant vouch for Acer, i have a Hp and its works well now after some work with it... lets hope it stays so

but i guess the macbook pro is best option, Mac is stable shit.. Like BigMac, its been around and working for lots of people in many years!

What do you think of 13" laptops? Those are around 2 kg and seems to be ideal for travelling. I'm thinking of getting such machine dedicated to live sets. But is 13" enough for comfortable performance? I use Ableton Live.

Have him build you a laptop. Or if that's not an option have a mom and pop computer shop build you a laptop. Compare prices of course.

Good luck finding someone who can build a laptop, hehe. Unless something has really changed in the industry since I worked in it a year back, this isn't really an option. Unless you mean ordering a barebones laptop and filling out the rest of the parts yourself?

Companies like Dell, Sony, and HP. They rip you off on certain parts. They only tell you the specs that sound good.

This isn't a ripoff at all, it's marketing. 99% of people that are looking at the specs don't have a clue anyway and it would be too convoluted to list the timing of the ram etc. Nothing prevents people from looking up the parts they're getting. If you wanted the absolute best timings for your RAM, and made sure you had sufficient cache on your CPU, you probably wouldn't be thinking of getting a Dell.
