ok then, i have a suggestion for you detox my m8... organise a party and "inform" the police that it is going to be a house party... but "we" will know that it will be a psy event... hehehe, maybe we can fool these fools LOL  |

u are kidding but its been done here in Israel and worked great:)
also i remember once come to ask fancy club owner how much he want for a night there so he told 7000$ and later i sent somebody else to check how much will be cost a night at this club if it will be a house party and guess what.. the price was down to 4000$.

I e-mailed him in the weekend Detox and he replied that he is in contact with the promoter and he cant be sure yet if he is definately gonna play or not!
I havent seen any flyers out yet so it looks like one more event will be canceled....

Tralala,Cedric called me this morning being furious at the promoter of the event cause he is trying to reach him for many days now and he just cant find him.
He told me that he is not going to attend that event,Cedric knows the situation with the police in Greece at the moment but he told me that its not polite for a promoter to just disappear without giving explanations to him about if the party is still on or canceled.
It seems that another event is not going to take place for various reasons

For starters, why do you guys consider police so stupid? trance parties have been in greece long enough, and known to many people for the police to know exactly what is happening and what kind of music event rings as 'rave' to their ears and which not.
( as it is now in greece, 'techno' doesnt ring a rave bell as much as 'trance')
Look at what kind of people go to house or other electro events. Compare them with the trance ones.. Do you see any difference? I do.
Trance ones look alot more like ravers with more involvement with drugs, and indeed they are.
Maybe other events involve even more drugs, not this way though, alot more subtle.
Police dont like trance because they know this difference. Imagine the possibility that police already have their people in our parties and imagine that there are policemen that even like psytrance!  (but they just have to do their job). Not all policemen wear police suits and have mustache and be 50 year old arrogants, they can be looking just like you and me with funky tatoos and piercing and rave clothes, (i have had personnal experience with undercover greek cops back some summers ago)
so heres a small list of reasons that make police to bust parties:
1) People who have a police record, and possibly being tracked by the police. (many arrests are made while traveling to a trance party, where police knew where to road-block)
2) Stopping the illegal raves cos of drugs
3) Tax reasons, and the high price the door is (much much more than other countries)makes people want to take some sort of revenge to the promoters when therhave payed so much to get in, to see bad venue that was far too crowded with ravers, and eventually had a very bad time). Bottom line:
people who want to revenge from promoters doing nothing but fundraising. they should be promoting instead.
There needs to be done something for these.
for 1) its almost impossible. Psy-trance artists attract the people and drugs police doesnt like more than any other style.
for 2) its hard to change the bad reputation trance parties have. The best i'd pressume would be to cover it up as much as possible. Name it somehow other, as dave mentioned, get official permissions etc.
for 3) its easy: make sure people are really getting what they paid for. A good time. that doesnt mean just providing drugs. Add chillout rooms and maybe chaishops? make it a real venue, not a rave.

I ve been to many house and techno events in Greece and trust me tozzo, there is exactly the same drug use in there as well...But police doesnt care...Yesterday a greek newspaper (Traffic) had on its first page the title: Greek singer to hospital after excessive use of coke....Is the police gonna do something about it? NO! And you know why?BECOUSE TRANCE IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE ROOT OF EVERYTHING EVIL IN THIS COUNTRY....Police works in a way that he doesnt really care to fight the problem, instead they try to SHOW to the greek society that they do something about it and since the media after years and years they have persuaded the greek people that rave=drugs,thats all the police cares about...
But I believe that this situation has an expiry date...its the elections date....is it not strange that at the same time they try to shut down rave parties, they try to close the fun clubs of the football teams, to remove all buildings next to seasides etc etc....they just try to SHOW they care...after the elections, same shit..... |

All that's been said in this thread is nothing new. When I was "hot" (1995 - 1997) in Greece all the above mentioned problems with Authorities and the Police were exactly the same. It's sad but I honestly also blame the organisers and the party people for being a major part of the trouble. It's well known that our scene have a problem when it come to toning down the promotion of drug use which in my opinion still is the essence of the Authorities "fox hunt".
We have for too many years been praising drug use and abuse in our scene and made it a central "god" among us. If we want to get more respect and even approval from the Authorities around the globe we need to growe up and realize that nothing will ever change if we dont change. Of course drugs and experimentation is a big part of life for teenagers but responsible Organisers would do everything to minimize drug use and abuse at their events. Unfortinently many organisers and for that matter artists and record labels (just look at TIP World, Hallucinogen ect.) praise drugs and push innocent youngsters into drug use and abuse when they keep promoting it as an essential part of our culture. That's why the Authorities and the Police keep hitting us in our heads - and they will continue until they day we realize that music can be enjoyed without illegal chemical substances.
Let's face it. When so many of the Organisers, label people and artists are living billboards for drug abuse, I dont know the figure but i would not be surprised if 60-70% actually have a drug problem, then how on earth is our scene ever going to be respected and approved? Before those people start to shape up their acts and stop promoting our scene as a "drug heaven" we will never be left alone by the Police and Authorities.
