haha, U-haul truck... thats a good idea I am willing to bet these bluegrass people wouldn't mind some diversity either, alot of teens and early 20's go there, I'm sure the psy would attract them alittle more than that bluegrass, but then again thats just my opinion. I will have to start planning on this now. that was a good idea bringing up the bluegrass fest. There are some anchorage DJ's but they play in the clubs most of the time, and the clubs play some electronica mainly R&B. If BSM does know a dj that plays psy in AK, that would be really cool to get the info on when / where he plays. BTW Lucid... how long are you expecting it to take to get from NC to AK? Might be a long drive, the canadian boarder in the Washington state area is approximately halfway. Are you gonna go slowly, or just rush through and get here as fast as possible?

ohh almost forgot. Never been to Russia myself, its pretty far away from where I am, and I have lived in the north most my life, when I get the money, I will probably be vacationing in the south but to be in the presence of a true shaman, and to communicate with him would be something I would want to do, all that other stuff that was described also sounds fun, maybe as fun as a psy party?

hey hey now! Bluegrass is some good stuff ...some of it anyway. And from some of what I've heard and seen, dem bluegrass folks have been known to get wild and crazy...just like psyfolks. It comes from Irish and Scottish folk (ole skool dance ) music and alot of it IMO is really fast and dancey. Ya get all dem strings and stuff together and I can imagine how things can get pretty wild!

They say...that the festival has a very energetic, nature thing goin on there. With all those young, eager, and open minds runnin around, I think it would be an great place to introduce something new and exciting. You could even tap into the AK 'rave' scene...and who knows!

I plan on taking my precious time getting to AK... because I may not wanna come back for quite a while. I'm gonna drive to Southern Cali and then all the way up the coast. It's gonna take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks (friends, family, and parties along the way).

I take it you mean northern Alaska when you say you've lived most of your life in the north. If so, what do you think about the Bush administration's attempts to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge?

I will see about contacting Blue Spectral Monkey soon.

Oh, I agree with you on the bluegrass, I still haven't made it out to the festivals yet, regrettably. But I hear alot of crazy tales. Boy a road trip sure does sound like a blast, almost makes me wish I were moving I have lived in alaska all my 19 years of my life. 14 of them were in Southeast Alaska, and the last 5 were up here in Wasilla, I guess its not really high up yet, close to, but not quite at the arctic circle. yet I have experienced the 3 month summers for as long as I can remember. Concerning ANWR, I believe it should be done, I am assuming that you may be against it, in which case I have to say that I haven't done much research on it, but I can reassure you that we aren't taking that much land from the wilderness, theres millions of acres for all the animals up there to roam in, I think the figures make it look like a small dent, but I would have to look them up again. if it goes through thats alot more money for AK though. not to mention a possible employment for myself. Last time they opened something new like that young'ns would go and work for a summer and come back with more than enough money to buy a brand new truck. but I am up for debate at all time about all topics, I love to argue, or listen to peoples facts, so argue away, and don't think that I disrespect you any less, or am ever angered by something you say.

it's all good man.

The money is a good thing...no doubt. And they say the work zone is only gonna take up a small portion of the refuge on the coastal region (although 1.5 million of the 19.5 million acres sounds like a big chunk to me).

That's why AK's so damn rich...with the oil, tourism, and fishing and all. $20,000 for 4-5 months on a commercial fishing boat is more than enough more me .

My initial response is to "say no to drilling"...lol. But I don't really know enough about ecogoly and the such to back myself up.

I've done a lil reading up on it though. It's the calving grounds for over 120,000 caribou. Stuff like that doesn't happen anymore...anywhere on this continent (remember the buffalo of the wild wild west ). It's the feeding grounds for several species of migratory birds and marine mammals. Have you seen Winged Migration? Scientists call it things like "the American Serengeti" and "North America's Last Great Frontier"...and so on and so on.

that's a long debate...lol.

Indeed, it is a long debate, and one I am not to comfortable about debating. Like you I would like to say no to drilling, but then theres the people that I hear from alot that have lived in alaska for a long long time, and have been around the state and claim that it wouldn't hurt the population one bit. At this time I can't say if I am for or against it, even though I am leaning towards the for it side, but I also see it as a stepping stone, and you are completely right about these vast plains of nature being tamed by civilization, I do not want to see alaska turn out like the great plains of America. But I am just finding it akward, that somehow it seems as if Nature is setting itself up for failure. In Alaska, there are plenty of oil fields, I am not sure what the hell they are tearing down the rainforest for, but I am sure that its not just for lumber, and if it is, then I should abort this theory now, but regardless, all these spaces that seem so cut off from civilization seem to have something very great to offer to mankind, other than the fact that it is cut off from civilization. Maybe one day people will see this and find a solution to it. Starting to sound more and more like a conservationist every day anyways just my 2cents. My neck of the woods finally got snow that stuck for more than a day I think it was friday. Other than that, not much to say.

I found a few sites on the alaska rave scene...

and not a word was mentioned about psytrance.

it looks like you've got an entire frontier to explore!

geez...imagine what one could do out there with a really good sound system!

Welcome!! I dropped you a message, just in case you haven't checked it yet.. I saw a flyer the other day, looks like tonight (2-21-04) there is going to be a deep trance/tribal with some house or techno playing at the Spenard Recreation center in Anchorage, if you were looking for something like this thought I might want to let you know... sorry about the short notice, but I guess thats better than never. talk to you soon

well I finally found THE message board strictly dedicated for Alaska peeps. So the scene ['rave', not necessarily psy] does exist here.

it's on housewreckin.com or http://www.housewreckin.neomordant.com/index.shtml but the site seems to be down often.

Apparently there's a couple parties coming up in the next 4 weeks or so. I ran across that info on that message board.

dolla dolla is the name of the game for the next 6-12 months or longer.

Then comes Moscow, BC, Seattle, Japan, SF, etc...
