Babaluma i didn t know about the ps3 bus comp , price is really good for a high quality stereo comp (1600$) and it might be more usefull when tracking/mixing and still good for mastering mmm

1- Threshold range
P3S- -50dB to +15dB
P3S ME- -8dB to +15dB in 1 dB steps

2- Ratio range
P3S- 1:1 through 12:1
P3S ME- 1:1 through 4:1

3- Gain range
P3S- 20dB through +20dB
P3S ME- 0dB through +11.5dB in 1/2dB steps

4- Threshold, Ratio and Makeup are Goldpoint/Elma 24 step hand built rotary controls instead of conductive plastic potentiometers.

5- Price... The P3S ME requires far more labor both in assembly and development leading to it's release, hence significantly more expensive.

1- Both use the same circuit board and components.
2- Both come stock with Carnhill output transformers
3- Both have the signature FCS sound, sweet and natural.

both can have the class A board and cinemag option it seems

so guys, sorry for being out so long. back now.

the thread make me dive into tape actually, but in the uad realm only. but the uad emu´s sound fuckintastic! i ended up buying both the studer and ampex and love what they do on individual tracks and the 2bus. wow! back when i first looked it did not dig deep into them enough, i do not like what most settings cut away in the high end. for acoustic/rock music that might fit but i want stuff to sound clean and warm. anyway, these two thingies are totally recommended!

but thats another story. back on topic. bought a decent ad/da converter now and played with the compounder i bought for the bass expand. must say it makes fun and sounded fine. pretty clean for such a low end gear, was surprised, even using it for mastering with the expand feature seems not an issue!
now, when i have recovered financially, i want to look for decent outboard, eq and comp mainly

i actually think i am more of a clean sound type. i stumbled across the elysia xpressor and like what it does a lot (+ its very reasonably priced imo):

what do you guys think of it?           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

elysia xpressor is very clean and won't add much mojo to the sound if anyhting but the compression will be good ,i would like to demo one and the xfilter too .

plugins tape dont sound like real tapes ,these dont bring some of the hardware qualities to the sound imo even if these sound good .

save for compressor and eq imo and stop spending money on plugins it s money a bit lost imo..i demoed all the lastest plugs praised on gs..not one made me think i m usin hardware in their sound..all sound like plugs but after it depend if the difference worth it or not for you hardware price is not cheap and in the end plugs can give excelent result too but its not there yet .
