at ED this year there was a world dance stage which appeared to do quite well
what are your thoughts on other styles of music at psy parties ?
  For those that understand no explanation is necessary ; for those that dont , no explanation is possible

aside from ambient psy i vote a resounding 'NO'!
other types of music attract other types of people, and quite frankly i go to psy parties to get away from these people, and be around people with whom i can identify.
thats why some of the bigger parties in london are so shit, cos they play techno, hard house and breaks (which i do like) but it brings in a shitty atmosphere.
i say psy, and only psy!

its not elitist... i dont feel i'm 'better' than anyone else.. i just prefer the psy crowd to the rock crowd, or hard house crowd.. and would prefer for there not to be a mix. if i want tech house, or electro, or breaks, i would go to such a place and mix with those people.. i just think things should be kept separate.

i suppose tho ambient/world/prog alll ok to be at a party...
many psy people like world and vice versa (old skool) , so yeah, i think if its specific, i would say yes.
but if it was say rock or techno or whatever like hip hop ...i would have to say a huuuge NO |

people have such a narrow minded view on what psychedelic music is... and what a psychedelic experience is... and who's supposed to be at these psychedelic events!
weird!
isn't it just supposed to be psychedelic!?!
i'm up for all kinds of music.... doesn't matter to me...
the more variety... the better... it just adds to make a party more interesting and more enjoyable if there are different kinds of psychedelic artists playing....
psychedelic music.. is just that.. psychedelic....
there shouldn't be any limits!!!! because... psychedelia HAS no limits!!!
i think it's so bad to segregate subcultures from each other... cos they all share the same love.... for music with a soul that speaks.

Why is it just because i only like psytrance, and some ambient/chill stuff that i am narrow-minded?
Thats a bit unfair and judgmental. I recognise that other genres are 'psychedelic' but i like to dance.. so i like psychedelic dance music at parties. i also prefer smaller parties, so for me there is no room for other types/genres.
Why is everyone always so critical of people who have this view. I'm happy that you love all types of music, and want every pseudo-subculture to blend together into one big happy family. i, however, would prefer that not to be the case.. and would also prefer not to be called 'narrow-minded'.
p.s. i hate smilies.. and have no way of conveying here that i am chilled in making this comment.. so please don't blast me for being negative.
