what i have felt so far is that most of us have a rich music-listening background, hence are openminded for all serious, good music. i also like psytrance absorbing ideas from anywhere, yet no e-guitartrance for me in my childhood i listened to all sorts of rock/metal. since i stumbled into psytrance i have been only following a few bands though, mainly prog-metal/-rock...mmh, that old dream theater material does it just like an early matsuri...

Yet, i think it's true that many rockers come to listen trance. i used to hear classic rock, then hard rock, heavy metal, black metal, death metal, thrash etc. and when there was no other more extreme metal kind i just got fed up and started looking for alternative sounds. Then electronic music came into my life with house, then progressive-tibal, Trance, and then got enlighted with the psy... it just took my mind and lifted it into other dimensions... so powerful, extreme and yet spiritual!
I think there is connection between metal and trance in the sense that both kinds demand listeners with extreme and beyond the normal music tastes

Extreme and beyond normal music? Try Deathchant records, Hellfish, Rondcore, Shitmat, Planet mu records, Wrong Music, Venetian Snares, DJ Producer etc... You may like
