@detox - so ??
its not about age, its about concept of work, they r 10 years in ("industry" ??) but only few years ago realy turned to software junkeys, thats about technology progress.
nonvirtual instruments can help u include more ppl in the same time into music production process or even give some human tuch but i dont think its realy importent for your sound quality, again its about setup and personal tuch.
all well..

what's important to me ,both as a listener & as artist is how much hart & how much thinking u put in every part of it , not how much money !

i have some friends with a killer studio (killer pc , pro tools , kick ass monitors, samplers , several synths & moduls & a guitar for disert ) that cant make a decent baseline...
& come to ask me how to do it.

to make things short ...
how much mind & soul u put in it is much more important that how much money... but that's only me...           visit us on myspace.com/yotopia

glad to see that alot of pepole agree with me and that i caused all of this "mess"
in my opinion it dosent necesseraly the equipment that makes the music , my intantion was like a lot of you said , label are looking for every track posiable and every new artist to "close" the compilation or just to say that they have a brilliant new comer album.
and as i sayd before there are still alot of good artists who make good music , i just think that in every genere (minimal , progressive , full on ....) there is nothing new now , you dont hear new stuff (by new i mean tracks like "klien aber doctor" by atmos or "P3" and "vibes from the other side" by paps they are tracks that when you first listen the only thing you can say is wow or what a brilliant idea or somthing like that)

New music will eventually find its way. I mean this genre has changed so much with all the technological development we had. Everybody used to use the same sounds, same synth a few years back. JP 8000, nordlead, etc.. With new developments came new sounds new genres of music. Every few years something new comes up. It started from Goa trance, to full on, to proggresive to techno. Maybe something new will come up soon. Their are many brilliant creators out there(many not so great).
I think its great that new artists have a chance to come out into the scene, it gives more variety. Or else we`re gonna have to listen to the same style of music for a long time.

offcourse new artsits should get a chance but not because they are new , but because they are good and worth to put their track or tracks on a compilation or an album , by the way that goes out to "old" names in the scenes , it seems to me that even if they produce a bad track labels will still buy their tracks because of their "name" that will get pepole who love this artist buy their stuff even if its not worth it.

Well, there are still people breaking the rules and trying to do special and new things. But for every one of them, there are 20 people who want to do Digital Structures or Iboga progressive or TIP World full-on.

If you look at the few that are still leaping forward, you'll see that 2002 had a lot of amazing music that really did new things. Techtrance finally got a direction of it's own, Electric Universe showed the world that progressive (nearly mathematical) ideas and fat melodies and melodic basslines can live side by side in a brand new way, Prometheus broke down the barriers between emotion and modern dancefloor ideas like never before, Tristan gave a psytrance gem of an album this year, Twisted Records in general gave a lot of ground breaking food for thought, and I'm not even beginning to talk about the loonatics from Finland which do everything they can to be NOT normal. Krumelur with his hard and thumping minimal, Highpersonic Whomen with a new side to progressive, Loopus in Fabula with his jazzy ideology, the whole Australian mafia who don't care about having a few rough edges to their music... and the list goes on.

Sure, these guys make some good stuff that's drowned in a sea of music that's not groundbreaking in any way at all. But still, as long as a shred of the underground exists in the trance scene, we can always expect the unexpected.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

you really dont need anything else than a computer to make music.what you need though is skills...

theres a lot of really highly rated electronic musicians producing in different genres who only use a computer.
